I have read this book. It goes on a bit.

"Pan Macmillan has issued an “urgent” stock recall notice on Andrew Marr."

That's more like it.

Anonymous said...

Have they not heard of Streisand effect? Thousands of these books were sold, I have one and now I will be awaiting the new version to see what gets changed, otherwise without this recall I would be none the wiser

Anonymous said...

It has to be serious for a publisher to recall. They will have been threatened with legal action and this will be the first stage in the process. It may not stop legal action; it may be damage limitation. Whatever it will likely cost Britain's best political journalist in a generation a bob or two. . .shame.

Dick the Prick said...

Gordon Brown presided over one of the most successful periods of economic growth...... err..ed?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps they have indeed heard of the Streisand effect, and have come up with this as a Cunning Plan to get rid of nineteen old-stock hardbacks that are cluttering up a corner of the warehouse, and propel the new paperback edition up the sales charts.

Could it be that the adulterous big-eared Beeboid NuLabia shill just made it up as he went along? That's what he does on his programme.

But it has apparently sold 250,000 in nearly two years. That's a whole lot of libel out there. What took them so long?

Perhaps they should pulp Andrew Marr!

Peter Grimes said...

Well it won't be any of our ZaNuLabor 'aristocracy' because Panda Marr never confessed to sucking any of their dicks in his book, or said anything bad about them.

The Dirty Rat said...

Did he mention that Brown took it up the shiter?

Anonymous said...

So - he screwed up...

Did this fawning, groveling, Labour devotie say somthing un-flattering about our Socialist masters?

Did he question the wisdom of World Socialism?

Did he questioned the Obama Messaiah's omnipotent wisdom, and divine right to rule... in a Green room within earshot of 2 Luvies?

Perhaps he made a Tory look good.

Perhaps we'll never know.

Anonymous said...

They must have had a serious threat of legal action. The recall could then be used in a libel court (assuming it is a libellous matter of course, rather than some sort of copyright mix up or something that hasn't been properly accredited)as mitigation, to show that, as soon as the publisher became aware of the "problem" they took immediate action (and hopefully lessened any "damages")

We await the new edition with baited breath...

Anonymous said...

Maybe he mentioned something of fact and not New Labour fiction, and we all know that New Labour fiction is the new facts.

10 for sale on ebay, search under the following. Priced to go at £650k (pension top up).

Had to be withdrawn for legal reasons due to the following statements.

1. Gordon Brown is competent
2. Draper is a qualified psychologist
3. BBC is not biased and underfunded
4. Hayne is not orange
5. Hoon initials are TCH
6. Mandelbum has Labour's confidence backed up by a Brazilian
7. Harriett's Court of Public Opinion is in session tonight @ Smith's sisters house. Bring Green Custard
8. Jacqui Smith is credible and the best Home Secretary we have ever had and a very long way from being the worst.
9. John Prescott was educated
10. Cherie Blair was a right looker

Because of these inaccuracies the printed book will be burnt contributing to global warming with a small number going into landfill. We couldn't be bothered with recycling because the cost of paper has dropped through the floor so we don't get money on the deal. So much for being green.

Rack off Labour we are sick to death of the lot of you. If more than 10 of you have seats left at the end of the next election I'll be surprised.

Start writing your CV's now (if you can), I hear Prescott tried to save his achievements on a USB stick but couldn't get one with 10 Bytes of memory space.

Major scandal in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. The Broadway Theatre in Peterbrough refurbished in 2000 was acquired by a night club owner Rinaldo Fasulo in 2004 as a distress sale for less than £1 million from former Pizza Express owner Peter Boizot, who having seen the baliffs entering his Kettners Restaurant in Soho for non payment of rent to landlord and Porn baron the late Paul Raymond, then had to rapidly dispose of Kettners in Soho London, The Broadway Theatre (Boizot had in 2000 spent some £6 million on the old Odeon Cinema - his part payout from the sale of Pizza Express), Gastons and a couple of other restaurants, were also sold off or closed.

Would you believe that a fire started in the Theatre a few weeks ago - after a break in - but somehow thousands of people holding advance theatre tickets for the Broadway are not being repaid - Fasulo says its because his insurers won't pay out but the ticket money is banked elsewhere electronically and held in trust for the visiting tour managements ( fasulo did not produce the shows - a four walls deal as they say in the luvvy trade) who are also well out of pocket. (class action basis here me thinks) seven pages say 50 comments (all highly critical of Fasulo on the Peterborough Evening Telegraph were all wiped from the newspapers website early this morning Saturday 7th March 2008 possibly as Fasulo still has a few other nightclubs and pubs and is an advertiser with the Peterbrough Evening Telegraph.

THIS is what the Peterborough Evening Telegraph gushingly said:

Standing amidst the charred ruins of his £4.5 million dream, the owner of Peterborough's fire-ravaged Broadway theatre today announced that the final curtain had fallen.
There was no hiding his heartache, as well-known city entrepreneur Rinaldo Fasulo said all hopes of trying to resurrect the plush theatre and its adjoining Gaston Restaurant were gone.

The crunch came when insurers refused to pay out for damage estimated at £2.5 million because the venue's alarm was not correctly activated on the night the blaze ripped through the stage area and front row seating.

Mr Fasulo said: "The Broadway theatre has become the centre of entertainment for Peterborough.

"I am shocked and stunned that it has ended like this through no fault of my own.

"I simply cannot afford to rebuild it, so the complex will now close for good

1. Fasulo says he owns the Theatre, hios company has not gone bust so the way is open for small claims court claims against Fasulo and his company. There are several millions involved here as people were booking six months ahead the theatre seats 2,000 and many nights were sold out say £12,000 a night so thats £1/4 million a month in advance ticket money so we are looking at £3 million gone walkies...Fasulo is in tight with the City Council but was annoyed that Peterborough did not gain a Casino license having been virtually promised one before the labour government diod a U turn on the question of super casinos.

I headed over to Amazon, and auto-complete was very quick to guess this is what I was after, despite this being the first time *I* had looked for it: I get the impression a lot of people had the same idea. Amazon themselves have pulled it, but 3rd party sellers are still offering it; I imagine Amazon will have a contract with Pan Macmillan allowing them to buy back the unsold stock, but probably not to stop Amazon or Ebay letting others sell second hand copies...

Now the big question: what is someone trying to hide, and how soon can we get it all over the blogosphere ensuring it gets ten times the attention?

Anonymous said...

I reckon it's a scam. Let's be honest, Marr isn't the most exciting person is he, and the book is kind of looooooooong. I reckon they got wind that loads of people bought it and then gave up after the first chapter. All those peeps are now thumbing through it hoping to find something interesting hidden in there. The problem here is very obvious.

Who is going to raise a flag that we can rally around?

The 'government' is raising a Stazi state all around us while we drone on and on posting on Guido and CIF et al.

I would not be at all surprised if they found an excuse to postpone the next General Election.

I've never been one of the tin-foil-hat brigade, but this is getting bloody serious now.

Ordinary, jobbing journos (of which I am one) are routinely filmed and interrogated by the police, and our details held on a government database, along with those of anyone who dares to even protest about new runways, or whatever.

Comment on the Internet is all well and good, but really, we need some radical action in the 'offline world'.

Someone needs to raise a flag that we can rally around and fight this creeping fascist state.

Any ideas or suggestions?

The revised edition will say that Gordon told the Banks as early as 2001 that their irresponsible debt levels and personal lending were unsustainable and also that he warned the financial authorities that the USA banks and government were acting irresponsibly in funding the high level of mortages to people who could not afford to repay. He also warned that going to war in Iraq( was probably illiegal and did not support the action.

Scottish Labour is back says Gray

Iain Gray delivered his first speech as leader to the conference
Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray has declared his party "is back", as he urged members to start preparing for the 2011 Holyrood election battle.

He told the Scottish Labour conference it was time to regroup and recover, in the wake of its defeat in the last parliament election.

Mr Gray also launched a strong attack on First Minister Alex Salmond, branding him "impossibly smug".

And he said a list of well known figures would help shape party policy.

Mr Gray told delegates in Dundee that the party, in opposition, had helped deliver 8,000 new apprenticeships and had won the Glenrothes by-election.

"Glenrothes showed that Scottish Labour is back," he said.

I understand that the recall is because of a complaint by a "very well known" figure who objected to one "silly little phrase" in the book, which accompanied a BBC television series and has been published in both hardback and paperback editions.

"It's quite unbelievable," says my bookworm. "Because of one tiny phrase, which is hardly the world's biggest libel, a book which has already been been bought by 250,000 people has to be pulped. I've never known anything like it."

The book has already sold so many copies that it must either be plagarism or an up-dated foreward to a new edition.

I suppose it shows some-one else read it.I hate to admit I bought the paperback on cheap offer at W H Smug last year as holiday reading. He did hint that there was much to write about how badly Blair and Brown got on.

OT Mr Fawkes this is scandelous!

'Which? magazine, The Telegraph, Google/UK Press Association and Channel 4 have all pulled articles over Phorm Inc. (BT/Webwise) legal threats.

Which? magazine, an independent non-profit magazine published by the Consumers Association in the UK, carried out a survey of their readership over British ISP proposals to have Phorm Inc. intercept their customers Internet communications, and inject advertisements based on behavioral profiles.

The product Phorm are promoting is called Webwise, and Phorm have entered into initial agreements with three large ISP's, BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk who between them cover about 70% of the UK broadband market. Similar plans by NebuAd in the United States have attracted Congressional Interest and this form of Internet tracking has been put on hold in the USA...'

Another Government sponsored coverup no doubt in this control society.

WikiLeaks has the full story. Bravo WikiLeaks!

Mandelslime has just effectively said on the Jug Ears show, that the government and especially Gordon doesn't do 'sorry'.

This story line has just got to be pushed 'cos it's fucking hilarious seeing the discomfort of these Liebore toads, as they struggle to cover McTwats obdurate, guilty as fuck arse.

An interesting article. I'm quite jealous of the Kiwis in that they seem to have a leader who seems to know what he's doing for the good of the country, rather than pandering to any core constituency.

On today's Andrew Marr show one of the newspaper review guests Clive Anderson said that he noticed that Andrew Marr's book had been pulled. Marr didn't like the comment, and just said for legal reasons he can't talk about it.

I bought this book for my wife. She said: "Andrew Marr thinks rather a lot of himself, doesn't he? Pity his opinion of himself is misplaced."

Of course, we don't correct Gordon in public, - in fact we don't correct him at all for his lying, cheating, swindling, thieving behaviour.

That would be a grave blow to his self-esteem

News just in!

Shares in Birds rise sharply as the millions of the general public rush to buy WMD (Weapon of MP Destruction)!

Reports are coming in that manufacturers are having trouble keeping up with demand!

Polls suggest that the public may colour code attacks! Red for corrupt peers, blue for corrupt conservatives and sticking with green for complete pricks!

From the Tap blog 2007:

There is also this short extract from Andrew Marr's recent and excellent 'A History Of Modern Britain' (MacMillan 2007) -
'There was Mandelson, the brilliant but temperamental former media boss, by now an MP. Once fixated by Gordon Brown, he was adored by Blair and returned the sentiment.' Strong words, Andrew....

Why is impossible to make this stuff up? Paxo's 'Yeeeerrr'

Marr didn't really need to turn up this morning so completely did he hand over the show to Mandelson. Still, Mandelson's voice must put people off - it was at its most sibilant this morning - sssounded like the ssssnake in Disney'ssss Jungle Book

The climate change protester who apparently threw green custard over Business Secretary Lord Mandelson has been arrested, Scotland Yard has said.
Leila Deen, 29, attended a police station in central London "by arrangement" on Saturday, according to a spokesman.

CORRECTION - Derry Irvine playing key part in choosing Blair kids schooling was from Alastair Campbell Diaries.

Maybe the adoration of Blair and Mandelson for each other is part of the problem with Marr's history. It's an excellent book btw and full of interesting stuff. Marr doesn't seem so biassed in print as he does on TV.

what was that famous moment when an mp walked in on gord brown office un-announced?

Could there be any connection with his Tory & Lib-Dem free broadcast this morning? Part of the agreement for not suing, perhaps?

@dr. sipp: Is this what you had in mind?

You have to go down on the link below, right near the bottom (geddit??) to find this quote:

"The Security and Intelligence services keep on file indiscretions, however politically sensitive, of crown servants, MP's etc - An example of that would be the sexual encounter that occurred between Gordon Brown and Peter Mandelson (interrupted accidentally by a member of Michael Meacher's staff) in Gordon Brown's office at the House of Commons while in opposition and is still only known to a very select number of Commons and Whitehall hierarchy."

Pizzey was once a feminist but is now fairly anti The Guardian-type feminist- though she still considers herself a feminist. Militant feminists hate her because she claimed the majority of battered women she dealt with were often violent and abusive individuals.
I'd hazard a guess Jackie Ashley (a staunch feminist) is involved in this-no doubt pressurizing Marr to add a few derogatory comments about her.
