Just read the Code for Special Advisers and Part 22, section 3 says:
'if, with the approval of their Minister, they wish to assist with other party political matters such as a leadership campaign, they may do so while on paid or unpaid leave or at times which do not interfere with their normal duties, for example, out of office hours.'
Presumably these SpAds are given the 'permission' of their Ministers to assist them in such a way, and if they do it outside their contracted hours, how is this anything near wrong?
And the person in the first thread who said this would be in breach of the Working Time Directive, they've probably opted out anyway.
I've read the Code for Special Advisers and cannot find anywhere the part that says:
"This Code ceases to apply from the point at which the Special Advisor makes the decision to resign".
Got him back to rights. I'm a taxpayer and I want my money back! Great work Guido.

What have you to say to this then? http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/propriety_and_ethics/special_advisers/code/
7. Special Advisers should not use official resources for Party political activity. They are employed to serve the objectives of the Government and the Department in which they work. It is this which justifies their being paid from public funds and being able to use public resources, and explains why their participation in party politics is carefully limited. They should act in a way which upholds the political impartiality of civil servants and does not conflict with the Civil Service Code . They should avoid anything which might reasonably lead to the criticism that people paid from public funds are being used for party political purposes.
The Cabinet Secretary issued guidance to SPADs specifically stating that as long as they fulfilled their contractual responsibilities, they were free to undertake additional activity surrounding the deputy leadership election.
Oh well that's OK then. If Labour find it acceptable then... it IS acceptable!

Cameron does not have the political confidence or power to take on the media and the public services when he is not in government and is trying to get elected. We have 35% of the work force and 100% of this countries scumbags getting a living from all this bullshit. Some of these people will have to vote Tory or DC has no chance at all.
