He will surely be ousted long before he wants to leave in July.

Here's the latest from our friend Fraser Nelson in this weeks Spectator:
"The police shrugged off Lord Levy’s criticism last July. What baffled them was his claim to have co-operated fully with their inquiry. In fact, he could hardly have been less accommodating to the detectives who questioned him. His approach was to hand over a written statement and say ‘no comment’ to each question, as if he were an American pleading the fifth amendment."
"No. 10’s obfuscation has seemed all the more unnecessary because, I am told, there is still no evidence of a crime under the sale of honours legislation."
"Jonathan Powell tells friends emphatically that there is no chance of any conviction. It remains my understanding that he is right."
I can't wait that long. NuLab's subservience to American interests is grotesquely distorting the Greenwich Soviet. It is not too much to say that the residents of Greenwich are not enjoying local democracy.

Labour will do very badly in the May elections. There will then be an almighty shitstorm as it dawns on the slow-learners in the party, PLP and Cabinet that, unless they prise him out, the cuckoo in the nest will stay on way past this autumn, conjuring some reason out of foreign affairs, security, etc.
There will then be a week of bloodletting, Ministerial resignations (maybe a deputy leadership candidate, eager to please the left) at the end of which, he is forced out - or rather, forced to give a more precide date by which he will have gone, which will probably be in June or July.
All this is above and beyond the police investigations, about which, unlike most of the posters on this blog, I know nothing.

Very subtle of Guido to get his bets on at 100/1, then suggest his readers do the same on a thinly traded market to make a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Can't see Blair lasting until July. Sure, that's the plan, but when a government is falling apart like a badly made rissole then Super-Mac's dictum of "Events, dear boy. Events." takes precedence over all else.
Once a government starts sliding things rapidly pass beyond its ability to control them and the end comes much sooner than anyone could have predicted.
Best bet is a back-bench revolt - and it'll be messy.
July yes that makes sense and then a snap general election allowing time for "Bounce".
Economy going wrong Tax rises Cuts Union falling apart Tory attack will tie him back into Bliar over time He will go early , he must go early .I will be shown to be right , early next year Les Bleus will be docking in the harbour if state and then its time to turn that Liberal ponce Cammers into a Conservative...but until then I love him.
If anyone wants to know anything else about anything just ask me. I`m brilliant!

Why did the police request a news blackout until today?

Shame Peter Hain's 'share price' wasn't a bit higher in the run up to 'revelations' on your site about his 'deputy leader' campaigning. Then we could have 'shorted' the bugger and made a bit of beer money.

Sorry, folks, I am a man of leisure [lazy arse] who has just got up.
On the one hand I am hearing No 10 is complaining that they are not allowed to respond to that huge volume of police comments.
Now I'm reading here about a police 'news blackout'. Now it doesn't take much to confuse me, but what on earth is going on?

Fair point, Guido. But I can't help thinking this article from way back in December in the 'First Post' had a ring of truth about. Seems oddly prescient..
That said, I won't be putting my money where the Mole's mouth has been, for reasons which I hope are obvious...

News blackout would suggest that Blair's "chat" last Friday was not the only thng that happened, no doubt there is more to follow. The news blackout would not stop Blair speaking to his tennis partner.
PS Guido, has she sent you on the supermarket run again?
Mmmmm. Tipping this bet Guido, isn't that going to make your hedge plan look good sooner? And isn't this the kind of thing that gets napsters a bad name?

Do you really think he can survive that long?
Dear Tetchy,
I would like to lay odds against you getting a lobby pass.
Do you think Betfair would put that market up?
LOL
http://5thnovember.blogspot.com/2006/12/pm-not-answering-questions.html
Next month, when Guido's lobby pass comes through, it could be even worse - assuming he is still around.
"Next month" has come and gone Tetchy.
Where's your lobby pass?
LOL
July?
An aspiration by the Bliar camp, surely?
Every day, in every way, the dark forces are closing in on our 'pretty straight sort of guy'.
Or he might be the first PM to write out his resignation from a cell in Wormwood Scrubs.
9:50am Anon "... Where's your lobby pass?"
Senor Guido is focusing on more entertaining diversions
eg Anschutz's Cowboy Hat & Suit ? Now that his London Dome isn't getting the SuperCasino, is the Hat being returned
9:50 AM

HUTTON AT 100/1 ! You all laughed when I suggested this last year. Lucky I got on him at 250/1.
george street - you're joking. Surely the bookies have stopped taking bets now Benn is a certainty? Hutton won't even survive as a minister.
The word from Whitehall is that it is July
