I suspect the Cameroons are perfectly comfortable with this paltry "revelation". Most people believe he has used class-A drugs at some point, so the tacit admission of experimenting with mere dope does him no further harm and will connect him with a lot of normal people who have done / do so too and who are sick and tired of being bossed around by people who punish you for going at 35mph in a 30 zone but think that high crimes and misdemeanours are perfectly okay if it keeps them in power.

Re the road-charging petition, what is particularly sickening is that Al-Beeb, in (presumably) parroting a NuLab press release, failed to explain that the petition was on a government website as part of a government initiative. It was tacitly implied that some weird pressure group had set it up. This was despicable (or just plain incompetent) journalism.

Because they know that pissing off the Mail is suicide electorally.
So they have cosied up to it - not quite as much as the Murdoch press, granted, but still flattered it by making out they 'really cared' what the Mail thought of them.
And now the pigeons have come home to roost. Today's headline about a certain 'Blair Babe' and next in line to take his medicine, Cameron.

The author of the letter is Mr Paul Delarie-Staines, the chairman of the federation’s 50-strong branch at the Humberside college of Higher Education. I must admit that I am really unhappy about the BBC's reporting of President Bush's behaviour and pronouncements in recent years. I know - eg from reading the embarrassed and despairing wails on the Democratic Underground Forum, or from watching clips on YouTube - that the BBC works hard to make President Bush appear statesmanlike, sane, sober. While he leads America into perdition, economically, diplomatically, militarily.
And the story about 15-year-old David Cameron and cannabis is a non-story, as anyone who has had a 15-year-old younger brother (or son) knows.
