However, I can spot a slight loop hole which may require closure if your cunning [and, if I might say so, dastardly] plan is to work.
One imagines that such SpAds may work unpaid overtime. No ? Well, okay, they may fib and say that they work 'unpaid overtime', and that the work they are doing for the leadership campaign falls in side this amount of work. And that the rest of the time they are doing their full contractual hours, what ever they may be.
We don't want these slippery eels jumping off the hook on a technical point, now do we..
Keep up the good work, and remember if any SpAds are tuning in this evening - If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear..

Lefties unselfishly take the responsibility of making rules for others. It's only fair that they're exempt themselves.

I gather you expect to see some very twitchy people about the HP and surrounds.
>Anon But if they work unpaid overtime, they may - nay will - be in breach of the Working Time Directive which limits paid and UNPAID working time to 48 hours/week.
So The boss of the Spad is in breach of another law:-)))

an elegant solution to the nulab dross problem, would be a simple little commitment in the next manifesto. A bill prohibiting anyone who had worked as a college lecturer, a spad, a civil servant or for an MP / political party, for standing for election to public office for a period of ten / twenty years after that employment had ceased.
ANY work, whether paid or unpaid is still work carried out on your employer's time - use of the employers' electricity and facilities is the common grounds for dismissal. All they have to be is on the employer's premises.

Backwoodsman - great idea. I'll take the twenty year limit please, that way we can be spared the horror of Dave Cameron.

A breach or not a breach that is the question.
