When was the last time Gordon left his bunker and stepped up "to the plate" for a interview with Pax or Humphreys ? He seems congentinally, pathologically averse to taking the kind of risk or battering to his ego an interview with the bigger boys would present so I'd be surprised if he's been interviewed by either of them recently. Unless Ed Miliban and Balls were there to hold his hand. I could be wrong. Can anyone recall ?

Walden was in a class of his own as presenter of Weekend World in late 70's and 80's on LWT. Highly intelligent he did not accept evasive answers and never let go until a straight answer was given. generation. He did not allow M Thatcher off the hook. He was a Labour MP until resigning - he could see the writing on the wall for the Luddite Labour Party of the 70's. Now in his 70's so past it. Nobody today is fit to polish his microphone.
I’ve been off the air for a while, but just noticed from the UK press that the Royal navy is about to be in effect, disbanded. Now, since 95% of goods move by sea in this globalised world of ours, and also that the world’s oceans are becoming the byways and highways for drug runners, arms smuggling and people traffickers (that’s modern slaving someone needs to point out to Gordo) and oh yeah….given that Britain is an island, surely having a Navy is a useful thing. OK, those in the know have been banging on about modernising the Royal Navy for years, it needed to evolve from it‘s Cold War design and the simple idea that lots of destroyers and frigates meant more commands and sea time for officers. So a modern navy with new hulls, smaller faster, more hi-tech with smaller crews could be envisaged as useful for new roles, after all using a destroyer is a very costly way of intercepting drug runners.
But the truth is that insiders in MoD UK say we are broke because of Iraq and Afghanistan. Will the Royal Navy (or ‘Royal Coastguard’) have the cash saved by redirecting it to investment in new units and operational restructuring? NO. Will the cash go to procuring kit for the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan? NO.
Perhaps the 8.5m quid designated for “Africa” (after me…’we are the world, we are the childeernnn…”) and to grease Gordo’s post-NuLab job at the World Bank or UN, may need to kept in the bank a while until the sums are done correctly. Since we no longer have the means to secure borders, or as the Navy cuts demonstrate the will even to do so, the Africa cash should be kept here to fund economic, political and criminal immigrants when they arrive. We can then give them a house, free healthcare and welfare. At least they may spend some of that down in Maccy D’s, the pub or the bookies (like the ones in my folks nearest town do), rather than to the people traffickers to bring them to the UK, where they then can get a house, free healthcare etc etc. That’s after it’s been whittled down through the various stages of graft the funds will endure anyhow.
Ummm……So, I’d like to see Andrew Marr ask Brownshite about the Navy cuts given the current global security climate. But I doubt he’ll touch a nerve judging from the coverage of the defence cuts on the BBC and that (a) Marr works for the BBC and (b) he’s a bottom line Labourite…..
So Andy, if you read this….won’t you ask him? We’ll be watching…….

Remember Brown's authoritarian response to Nasty Nick Griffin's second acquittal?
"Any preaching of religious or racial hatred will offend mainstream opinion in this country and I think we have got to do whatever we can to root it out, from whatever quarter it comes. If that means that we have to look at the laws again, I think we will have to do so." (BBC News, 11th November 2006)
Here's Marr some years previously:
"And the final answer [to racism], frankly, is the vigorous use of state power to coerce and repress. It may be my Presbyterian background [shared with Brown], but I firmly believe that repression can be a great, civilising instrument for good. Stamp hard on certain 'natural' beliefs for long enough and you can almost kill them off. The police are first in line to be burdened further, but a new Race Relations Act will impose the will of the state on millions of other lives too."
Brown and Marr both display a very dangerous combination of authoritarianism and self-righteousness. See Calvin's Geneva, Lenin's Russia, Bliar's Iraq for examples of where they are taking Britain in accordance with 'mainstream' opinion.
