Margaret Thatcher when asked about the idea of legalising cannabis replied "You could never do that! It would be like legalising murder! Murder!!".
She was right then and she is right now.

Spot on, Nadders! It's time to end the hypocrisy and just legalise/decriminalise it. I can state with confidence, that after many, many years of THC abuse, it hasn't done me any harm. Flibble. THC4ME!
Why should there be a high level of extortion attached to the enjoyment of certain chemicals?
the same catholic impulse to punish masterbation etc is still with us.

Medically prescribed cannabis! Who gives a toss? Given how widespread it is anyway, what sodding difference does it make? Illegal drugs are only there to prove Darwinian theory. If they was a cheap abundant supply of tolerated hard drugs, the dim-wits could happily kill themselves with them and old grannies don't get mugged and car owners have there CDs nicked out of there cars and petty, community destroying crimes are greatly reduced.

Unless less we leave the UN it will not happen. The uk is committed as are all UN members to keeping certain substances illegal. That way the prices stay high and intelligence services and crooked politicians take their cut. MI5 smuggles dope, well used to they have probably moved on to changa just like the CIA. Howard Marks MI5 asset Brian Charrington MI5 asset Serving marines (SBS) caught with tons of the stuff en route to the UK by customs and get let off on a technicality, explains why HMCE has been brought to heel.

Hang on a minute. Do you want it merely decriminalised? Or are you suggesting the British Tax Payer should the shoulder the burden of paying for cannabis for anyone who can persuade their GP that they need it for medical purposes?
The stuff should be distributed free to all social housing projects, geezer. So stoned, won't have the nous or energy to turn us working folks over. As an incentive to Nulab, we can guarantee that they get all social housing votes, too. Keep em both quiet.
Given that the Court of Session in Edinburgh has ruled today that denying prisoners the vote would mean that the May elections would take place in a way which was not compliant with the Convention.
Get the ganga out lads and celebrate.

Cameron should not support any policy to make cannabis more available. Given the effect it had on his own brain functioning it clearly induces a long-term dangerous deviation from reality.
I am still waiting for a Conservative policy which goes beyond: "Things go better with Coke!"
Back at the plot, legalising medical marijuana would also be self-evidently right.

why do you think it is codswallop to consider the medical use of cannabis for MS as on a par with medical use of diamorphine (heroin) and other opiates? If cannabis were to become prescribable, it would be as a controlled drug and the licensed indications would be very limited.

True. But can't it just be legalised? Quite confident it isn't my sneaky smoke in the evening causing me to wake up late for work, stinking of drink with a raging headache but oddbins very own house white....
Please! I watched his comments about this last week.
If he's serious about doing something good he should commit his party to looking at all drugs legislation in the round, not using spurious grounds like medicinal use to allow people who are ill to get stoned - trust me, thats how it works in the US and Canada.
Quite frankly they should consider legalising all drugs and the regulating the market.
But of course, the War on Drugs has been as big a success on the War on Iraq so its clearly in any current or future governments best interest not to do so! ;o)
I think the operative phrase here is more that "Dave Asked to Commit to a Policy".
...
...
Right, now I'm back on my chair and feeling better after a few minutes of laughter (a much better tonic than Lebanon or Morocco's finest exports I feel).
I say we legalise all the drugs and let Darwin's Natural Law of Selection sort society out - those who want to get completely brainf*cked on heroin, cocaine and crystal meth cocktails can feel free to do so - more work and totty for the rest of us. The Afghans will love us, the Bolivians won't protest against us and Kate Moss and Pete Doherty can legally shove the GDP of Colombia and Thailand up their noses or in their veins according to their whim du jour with no fear from either PC Plod or the Daily Express.
Julian, I suspect you jest when perhaps you shouldn't.
The problem with drugs (other than the obvious affects of addiction) are mainly social and economic and come from it being a black market product.
You won't stop people taking drugs by prohibition - I think thats more than obvious.
Cost is high, control of who has access to these is in the hands of criminal gangs.
Legalisation & regulation could make a massive (immeasurable) difference to society.
Quite frankly I see no reason whatsoever why we allow this insane prohibition to continue - Its this more than the drugs which is destroying our society.

But for god's sake people; it's really just another medical drug for sick people, and it's cheaper than most of them. Also, it is effective for an astonishing variety of illnesses, and is easily tolerated by most patients. Why the fuck not make it a legal prescription drug?
