Suggestion - a Tim Ireland thread where everyone can practice cussing.
For Mr. Booth and his chums, (I have little interest whether they are pro or anti sodomists, or even self sodomisers) to enjoy the plutocrat lifestyle, (note Lewis’ beautiful handmade suits) whilst losing $8.5 billion last year, shows to my mind a sense of low animal cunning that might well be expedient for Gordon. I have a very small amount of debt yet I still have to calculate the costs of my champagne habit.
What is cowardly about deleting the boring repetitive drivel about Cracknell you litter the comments with? Sure, he is a drunken spinner for Brown/McSnide's lines, but unless you have any new info to add - shut up. You are a fucking bore - that is why you get deleted from here and they sacked you from the Sunday Times. So fuck off you loser. Everyone in Wapping thinks you are a bit sad. They are right.

Booth, you say? Rings a bell.
The word is that Ford and GM are so far up shit creek that pork barrel policies from the White House are anticipated, followed by howls of outrage from the Japs and Europeans.
Down in the town there is a fellow who made a kitchen work bench for me a couple of years ago, his name is Roy and he is not a bad carpenter. To cut a lengthy story short I believe his business to be happily putting along in the black; possibly to the tune of £60, 000. Now I know this is not really breath taking, however he would seem to be doing $8.5 billion better than the gentlemen at Ford. Should Roy be invited to speak at number 11? Also my barber Lionel has had such a good year that he bought his wife a second hand jaguar xjs; I am sure Lionel could make it if Roy is busy.

There seems to be too much in the way of the homosexualist preoccupation here. Now I know that barbers have a certain reputation for sodomy and the noshing off; but Lionel is a father of three beautiful girls (one doing middle eastern studies at Exeter) and a grandfather. He would no sooner offer a hand shandy to a fellow than I’d lay eggs.
Over the past 20 years I've seen the percentage of American cars on US roads fall and fall. I was in NY/NJ this summer at a mall carpark and only about 10% of the cars were made in the USA. On the drive home I only saw one american car - a beaten up old Ford pick-up. The number of Japanese cars also ssems to have fallen in the past 5-10 years. 20 years ago 80% of cars were made in the USA and "European Styling" was a gimick, today it's everywhere.

Get your money on Reid for leader as New Labour are waking up to the disaster that a Brown succession would mean.
The Tories are desperate for Brown to become leader because they know that with the economy about to go tits up they can wipe the floor with him. That's why they've given him such an easy ride so far and why Tory papers like the Mail hardly have a bad word to say about him. They can't wait for him to take over when they will really go for the jugular.
Furthermore he is blatantly weird and creepy and hated by 95% of voters. Even his wife-of-convenience intends to vote SNP.
With Brown as Labour leader the Tories would have a good chance of winning an overall majority at the next GE.
Reid, on the other hand, frightens them. He would attack them from the right and strike a chord with many disaffected voters.
With Reid as Labour leader the best the Tories could hope for is to become the largest party in Parliament though even that may be beyond them.

As for Ford, well where do you start. Certainly in Europe, the US corporation has made too many mistakes with employee relations, and product quality has suffered. Certainly the vehicles they were producing in the 80's and 90's were poorly made crap. Combine that with massive overcapacity in the market place, and a consumer base who won't tolerate shitty product any more when the Japanese and subsequently the Taiwanese and Koreans, do a better product at better prices.
