Does anyone believe the nonsense on cash for honours written by Andrew Pierce in the Telegraph?! The sap has been totally taken in by the No 10 spin that they can't take the inquiry seriously because the cops are leaking! They aren't - it's just lazy lobby hacks making stuff up. As Times editor Robert Thomson said at his leaving do: "Andrew has written many exclusives. Many of them still are!"

Crikey - thought for a minute she was going down 'on' Whitehall. I know she's a game bird for her age - but her poor back....

For thoose of you who think that the Queen's peach is ruffage for Peter Mandelson and fancy a little fun, this is from the PM's website:
Tony Blair wants your questions about the Queen's Speech (13 November 2006)
This week you have the chance to quiz the PM about some of the biggest challenges facing the UK.
The Prime Minister will be answering questions from users of the Downing Street website on Thursday. You'll be able to watch the interview from around 1430 GMT.
He wants to find out what you think about his plans for tackling climate change, reforming the justice system in favour of the law-abiding, or making sure we all get a decent pension.
Mr Blair says that "extending opportunity and security in a changing world" will underpin his plans.
Read Tony Blair's invitation to users of our website Two journalists - Anne McElvoy and Will Hutton - will be asking the questions on your behalf.

Military bandmasters sem to have a certain knack for picking appropriate tunes. I remember watching some news report back in the eighties of the first Red Chinese dignitary to visit Hong Kong was getting the appropriate pomp and ceremony.
The band of the Umpty Umpth Foot and Mouth played "Knees up Mother Brown" as said High Panjandrum was pushed along the reveiwing line in his wheel chair.
Probably somthing they get taught at bandmaster school.
"Migrants make up about 70% of TB, HIV and malaria cases in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, a report has found."
The other 30% are, of course, British people they have infected.

Was the band marching with a straight leg?
The party has ordered the military to do this to honour our esteemed and beloved heroic leaders. It is only befitting a glorious socialist state like Britain.

Mr G,
If memory serves correct, the esteemed comrade from Peking was either displaying a degree of inscrutibility remarkable even for gentlemen of his ilk. Or he hadn't got a clue about the name of the tune the men in funny uniforms were playing.
I do remember that the officer escorting him was trying very hard not to laugh.

While Blair was being processed along to 'Star Wars', the rest of Central London, from Clerkenwell Road to Victoria, and south of the river into Waterloo, Kennington and Vauxhall, was gridlocked just so the Great & Good could have their annual panto. Never mind the cost of the panto, Baroness Hayman, what about the cost of lost business while workers are stuck in buses, cars and White Vans? Bah!

I see the first comment stayed live, but the 2nd didn't. Deleting valid criticism now, are we Guido? Transparency for *some*, now is it?
I say again: Guido earns his living my shitting in other people's backyards... but you're not allowed to so much as fart in his.
Gordon Brown is Jabba the Hutt let's face it. Hazel Blears would be his sniggering Salacious Crumb.
I can just imagine PM Gordon Brown hissing at David Cameron during his first PMQ:
"Your feeble powers are no match for the dark side of the force..."
Or
Blair: "Dave, I am your father!"
Only in this case, rather than Cameron going "No!", the response will be "Yes! I am your rightful heir!"
Brown's relationship with The SMITH Institute has been questioned, lose the M and.......
Blair: No, I'll never turn to the Dark side you've failed your highness, I am a Jedi like my father before me.
(Pause)
Gordon: So be it Jedi.
