"Alan Johnson will Guido understands rule himself out of the leadership stakes tomorrow - announcing he is a candidate only for deputy leader."

Understands, as in read on Page 2 of today's Daily Telegraph?

I fancy a fiver on that Milllybrand guy....as he is one of the few socialists that can spell his name (unlike me)

But what sort of price are you getting on Reid ? might be worth a punt at 10 to 1, but some of the odds I have seen are just under 5 to 1.

You are just tantalising us at the moment...

"Understands, as in read on Page 2 of today's Daily Telegraph?"

Don't read the Telegraph anymore (who does?) it will be in Tribune tomorrow "Guido understands."

Latest price on Betfair is 13/1

You should have 'bet' on today's entirely predictable post election fall in the dow. There are a few people posting methods that work on the internet, believe it or not.I'd post some links but some of you might be Labour supporters.

Shorting Gordo, eh, Guido? And so soon after trashing him and his little Smith Institute scam.

More power to your elbow!

PS I have mentioned before that Team Blair is back in the war-room and firing on all cylinders. Stand by for more A.B.G. salvoes, wot? Incoming!

What odds are you putting on Blair still being PM at the next election....given the way things are going, that might be sooner than later...

The real bet will be on who'se going in the slammer.

Hows this for an idea?
Beckett coming up from the inside for a suprise photo finish?(leo up)

It isnt such a daft idea , she is a wiley old bird , untainted by Iraq or pissing all of our pensions up the wall and would be far more acceptable to middle England than some odious jock (reid or brown).

I'll give every Labour MP a working strategy to trade whatever financial instrument they chose if they all agree to stand down.I'd give them a full explanation as to the market's operation and email support for six months. It's an all of them or none deal.Contact in the first instance through Mr Fawkes.

Telegraph, Tribune or whatever - according to the Beeb, Johnson has come out and said that he backs Brown. Today. Not tomorrow.

I know this is wishfull thinking but if blair is nicked and the money is dodgy then wouldnt that invalidate the last election cos labour cheated?.So reset the clock and try again.

anan...you can't therefore be a long manager...lol

Hitchens - reckon you might have something there. Did you see la Beckett at her press conference today? We have face-lift ... we have lift-off.

You caravan-dwellers, eh?

Would not be surprised if, Gordo ruled himself out on the basis that tenure of NEXT Labour leader likely to be very short and highly toxic.....put your money on the consistent loser Ed Balls

Hitchens - your theory about the wily old bird would throw some light on the otherwise inexplicable decision to promote her in the last reshuffle. Also, if she stood against Brown and lost she would still be worth a cabinet post. after all, she ran against Blair and then became one of his most reliable gofers, so she has form as a good loser.

New Labour is going through a "phony peace" at present which Brown falls for at his peril.

The Anyone But Gordon movement is stronger than ever and waiting to ambush poor old Prudence just when he least expects it.

Im going to bet on ole ma Beckett, the more I think about it the more sense it makes , Blair will screw Brown over at the last minute , johnson is a nomark reid a non starter , Beckett could be sold as a safe pair of hands to the country and the party , in her curent role she could also gain kudos from an early retreat from Iraq (gonna happen)

They will make it look like Gordon's the only game in town, so as not to confuse.

If the opinion polls don't turn around by the time Blair makes his announcement, the whispering that labour can't win the next election under Broon will go around.

If the opinion polls do turn around, then would-be candidates are not wrong footed.
