We know that Bin Laden and the IRA are trying to hunt down and destroy the Tories so I whole heartedly support the thorough and robust job the police are doing to ensure that the conference is not attacked.
Also I'm loving the image of Huw "Labour" Edwards.
I would humbly suggest that Tory High Command tries not remind everyone of the humiliating queues at Stratford for the media glitterati on Millennium Eve. I don't think comparisons with Manchester are appropriate. The people most pissed today were councillors and activists: not the MSM.
I know of at least one prospective candidate who has been here 48 hours and was in good 'Battle of Britain' cheer until a senior party officer told him he wasn't getting in to the conference at all, and he should go back to his hotel at about 10.30. His hotel is inside the secure zone.
Another activist was beside herself because she had only planned to attend the first two days, and was not even going to get in for the last hour or two. Another was livid because she had given in her name six times to six different people and promised they would get back to her with some indication as to how long it would take.
It has to be said that there seems to be no high level intelligence working on this. There's a bunch of enthusiastic kids running about like headless chickens trying to make the best of a bad job, with no senior party official taking any strategic role in sorting this mess out with the police, and at least systematising the chaos. What has hacked a lot of people off, is the vain attempt by Maud to blame the cops for not working through the night.
I'm afraid to say guys this Tory conference far outshines the Labour do as a complete amatuerish (in the very worst sense of the word) shambles. It is bound to have a serious knock on effect for some time to come on an Association level.
Everything communicates! What this communicates to me is that the party has taken its eye off the ball and abandoned large swathes of it's members

DID he take any initiative to ensure the Conservative Party did better?...obviously not and he was probably laughing at the Labour shambles.
It is Maude that should take all the blame and RESIGN THIS DAY.
But being a selfserving, selfregarding man I doubt if he has such decency!
