Surely it's too apocryphal to be a leak? A farewell tour and an olympic games-style closing rally. What will we get, dancers in Wembley Stadium imitating cluster-bomb victims in Falluja? Fireworks to represent the tube bombings?
If it's true that it's an intended leak, it shows how out of touch those in No.10 are.
By the way, how much will this farewell tour cost the taxpayers of the UK? Have No. 10 worked this out? Has Gordon Brown?

Cromwell dismissing the Long Parliament in 1653 ( http://castorblog.com/archives/000275.html from Wikipedia ):
"It is high time for Me to put an End to your Sitting in this Place, which you have dishonoured by your Contempt of all Virtue, and defiled by your Practice of every Vice;
Ye are a factious Crew and Enemies of all good Government; Ye are a Pack of mercenary Wretches and would, like Esau, Sell your Country for a Mess of Pottage; and like Judas, betray your God for a few Pieces of Money; Is there a single Virtue now remaining amongst you?
Is there one Vice that you do not possess? Ye have no more Religion than my horse! Gold is your God: Which of you have not bartered your Conscience for Bribes?
Is there a Man amongst you that has the least care for the Good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes! Have you not defiled this Sacred Place, and turned the Lord's Temple into a Den of Thieves by your immoral Principles and wicked Practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole Nation.
Your Country therefore calls upon me to cleanse the Augean Stable, by putting a final Period to your Iniquitous Proceedings in this House, and which by God's Help, and the strength He has given Me, I now come to do.
I command ye, therefore, upon the Peril of your Lives, to depart immediately out of this Place;
Go! Get out! Make haste, ye Venal Slaves, begone!"
Sums up New Labour's corruption perfectly, don't you think? Now all we need to do is find a suitable Lord Protector. Colonel Tim Collins, perhaps?
That's Margaret Thatcher's time in office (4th May 1979 – 28th November 1990) plus one day effective from 2nd May 1997. I should think that this is the only thing that Blair will ever be famous for, i.e. being in office one day longer than Thatcher was.

Blair is looking for his place in the history books. He intends to leave office sometime after 27th November 2008. By then he will have become the Prime Minister with the longest continuous period in office since Lord Liverpool (June 1812 – April 1827). This will leave his successor about 18 months in office until the next election, which must take place by 3rd June 2010.

I have head that New Labour has commissioned a re make of the Black and White 60's Television series, 'The Invisible Man'
To counter B.Liars glorious exit, a launch of a , with the hero, the Invisible Man emerging into Politics clothed in Bandages
The spin is that he has taken a Trappist vow of silence on any decisions that require any issue of moral fibre or leadership, or backbone
The re launch of the Scottish Coward, the Scottish Scowl, the invisible silent cunt, is imminent, prepare to be amazed and of course lied to and robbed blind

Unless Blair loses his marbles in the meantime. Didn't think this was seriously on the cards until last week, but it looks to be a factor now.
My cash, if I was a betting man would be on Feb 2009. The odds would be pretty good, and it should give GB enough time to sort out both their places in the history books.
Blair could finally have himself stuffed and lie in state in a vast mauselleum, purpose buit in the Millenium Dome. This way, the adoring plebs could remain dry as they spend eternity, veiwing the preserved corpse of the Great Leader.
What a fantastic legacy this would be.
I think 27th November 2008 would be a draw with Margaret Thatcher. She had one more leap year, so Blair would have to wait until the 28th.
Blair can plan his retirement as much as he likes. He'd had the rug pilled from under him today.
Milliband may be a wonk and not streetwise but even he knows Blair's time is up and Brown is a disaster waiting to happen.
Dave vs Dave.
I'll have a monkey on the next PM being called Dave.
The phrase 'Rats in a sack' comes to mind :-)
Worst think is he'll expect us all to say 'thank-you'.
I suppose he's got a point, if he hadn't run for leader and had left it up to the rest of his rabble imagine what would have happened!
Tomorrow's Sun is going to report Blair is to leave May 31st 2006.
If you were a Blair tactician wanting to reinforce an 'impression' that 2007 is a cert, you couldn't ask for better than a Sun headline like that.
Falls a little short of a guarantee, though, wouldn't you say?
If anyone needed proof that Blair`s finally lost the plot then this is it.He`d get lampooned by the media, hijacked by relatives of dead soldiers and dogged by anti-war protestors.Arrogant little turd would probably still sleep at night comfortable in the knowledge that he`s much loved and admired even with the sound of sirens ,battling demonstrators and riot police in the background.
"Blair could finally have himself stuffed and lie in state in a vast mauselleum, purpose buit in the Millenium Dome. "
Got it at last. So that's what Prezza and Anschutz were up to.
sod the ruddy timetable. I want Bliar to get shown the door immediately.
Tone is coming to a belated realisaton that (a) yes, the knives are fecking sharp and (b) oh my golly gosh, aren't there just a *lot* of them. At this point he's willing to sacrifice anything just to get past conference with his skin mostly intact.
Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for us, he hasn't realised that he needs to do this picee of hacking in the corridors of Westminister, not in the public arena....
Shall we open a bet on the subjects for debate at conference?
1. Leadership election
2. War in Iraq
3. Hyperarching pan-standardised public-private partnerships to shift the goalposts of modern social inclusiveness forward by cuting-edge redistributive techniques in the NHS/DSS/RLSS...

Breaking news......
I have head that New Labour has commissioned a re make of the Black and White 60's Television series,

To counter B.Liars glorious exit, a launch of a , with the hero, the Invisible Man emerging into Politics clothed in Bandages
The spin is that he has taken a Trappist vow of silence on any decisions that require any issue of moral fibre or leadership, or backbone
The re launch of the Scottish Coward, the Scottish Scowl, the invisible silent cunt, is imminent, prepare to be amazed
and of course lied to and robbed blind
