Cracking gag. However, as Anon points out, this is a tacit admission that No. 10's denials of the Cherie story have been complete bullshit from start to finish.
The speech has echoes of the stupid short slogans of the last election. "Remember how bad things were? The dead unburied (whoops, sorry wrong history). The lame blinded. Trade unionists in chains. People working stabbed." etc. Compared with Gordo the Scowl. still a good performer. What a shame about the competence and honesty bits. I think I see a little tear...ahh. Bless. Gordon got his little imprimatur, not quite an endorsement tho.

Amazing rhetorical tosh - constantly leading you in the direction of a presumed conclusion then..... shifting the argument on somewhere else. It's all buzzwords and no beef.

When he is just doing a tv interview, he has people standing above him pulling invisible strings tied to each end of his jowly mouth, which makes him appear to smile at appropriate moments, like a marionette. Clearly, they would be too visible on the stage of a conference set.

the PM doesnt have to be a leader of a party - he only needs to command the support of the majority of MPs.
and anyway, blair has his enabling act - its called the civil contingencies bill.

"how many black bereaved disabled lesbians do you employ?" questions that you get when you try to get some tax back (bid for state contracts). I don't, I just simply cannot bear mixing with state employees if at all avoidable. Im being deadly serious, I once had the misfortune to have to deal with EDS, I know they are supposedly private but they seem to the staffed by the same types of sub human that Gordon pays directly ,never again! I only deal with private companies, usually run by the person that actually owns a good lump of the shares. As to employing people ,we have a policy of subcontracting as much as possible and a no women under the age of 45 policy, nor will I employ an ethnic, not beacuse I am a rascist, I just will not take on the risk of being sued. Blair sounded like the bloody messiah. All that garbage about he must leave this mortal earth, his father Rupert Murdoch has prepared his place in heaven, earning pots of money. Wherever he is he will be thinking of you his people. The future is yours. his earthly leadership is coming to a close, his eyes are going all misty.
What a load of sanctimonious claptrap, who the Hell does he think he is? The morons in the hall will just revert to type when he is gone. Most of them would vote a pig in as leader if it wears a red rosette, (shouldn't say that it may give Cherie more cause for thought.

Blair is a nutter, isn't he? He has a messiah complex. What does that make him? A psychopath - a schizophrenic? I am not joking. What would a psychiatrist make of his comment "Lo I am with you, even unto the end of the world" or something like that?
And I have to disgree with people who think he is a great orator. He delivered the speech in his relaxed, conversational style. A team of people wrote it, of course. I don't think he or it was that great.
And it was his farewell speech because his party want him out, don't forget. They may "love" him (the very carefully vetted audience - no troublemakers allowed) but he is going because he has been told to go - sacked, not because his time has come to a natural end.

As always just follow the money, eventually it will become clearer the only question is how soon. There is a chance that the upcoming donk contest will encourage somebody to grasp for a last straw but clearly to a large extent they are all in the same boat.
It really needs an external event to lance the boil, whether it is triggered by Italian revelations, some Afghanistan disaster when an army unit runs out of ammunition on Wednesday afternoon when the RAF is on its half day, who knows. Perhaps somebody will ask exactly why there are no records of the UK forces wounded in Iraq ?

What p*ssed me off about that programme was that they didn't make any attempt to pursue Labour on the commercial loans aspect. Sure they mentioned in passing that the loans were made to Labour on a "2 percent above base" basis, which even in itself constitutes quite a hefty donation, but nobody had the tenacity to enquire given how much a charitable enterprise would have to pay in interest above base to borrow funds when already £27 million in debt.

I agree with Peter Hitchens. He's not a great orator. He's an egotistical little prig (sic) who thinks he's a great orator. He wanted to be an actor (he played Ariel, how cute; in tights no doubt)at Fettes, where the other boys called him Emily.
He's a ham. He's embarrassing. He makes people squirm. But he believes in his own star power. The quivering lips; the little pauses where emotion almost takes over but he bravely steadies himself ... he makes Laurence Olivier look like Stan Laurel.
And in the Rose Garden, doing the David Niven playing a wing commander in the last war bit. How spine-tinglingly embarrassing is that? The guy's creepy. He's a psycho.
In the words of P T Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute" - and most of them are on the voters' registers in Britain. How anyone could have voted for this cheap trick baffles me. He has the word FRAUD stamped on his forehead. He and his hefty mad wife ran all over the British Constitution, our sensible and rational second chamber, our Bill of Rights, our freedom of speech, our liberty to own firearms and who said them nay?
No one! Because their knees were trembley at the thought that Alastair Campbell may come a-knocking on their door with the Her Majesty's Thought Fascists. (You do remember that the British police had their requirement to swear allegiance to the Crown and keep the Queen's Peace removed from them by one Tony Blair, do you not?)
The bovine British voters gave Britain away to a raging psychopath.

Blair - intentionally overran the country with unassimmilable (because they don't want to assimmilate) adherents of a hostile and primitive religion, gifted them with postal votes although they were not British citizens, and "saw them right" on the British taxpayer's payroll.
Set up "Councils" and countless other quangoes to cater to this alien constituency of 2.5 *million* in our midst.
Now there is a gigantic mosque for a religion that is not congruent with British values going up in London, and it will be the first thing global TV viewers of the 2012 Olympics see on their screens. The dominant religious symbol of Britain. A gigantic place of worship of a religion that militates against all British values.
I am so glad I recognised Blair for what he is and got the hell out.
Anyone who didn't spot Blair as a malign spirit wasn't paying attention.

God's Bailiff - You are right. The British - the English in particular, sadly - need to be controlled.
While they had a controlling class (of which I am not a member) to do it for them, they could perform the miracle of the British Empire (I see Beharry, from the W Indies, VC has just been promoted by our Army, and deservedly so) - but they're soma people.
Give 'em a bit of a larff on the telly, a couple a drinks, but only a couple 'units, mate', tell them what to think and what to say and tell them their children are being "educated" as the British education slips down the drain from top of the world to Third World, and children in Britain, once protected by everyone, of course, are murdered every day. Babies of five months of age are raped and the pervert gets a year in prison instead of death. They don't have the nerve to speak out against the judges and the legal system.
Blair brought in the HRA as a malevolent spirit. He is the nastiest little squat of turds that has ever occupied the chief executive's position in Britain. He was going to try to end the Monarchy, being much encouraged by the reaction to the death of the terminally boring Diana, except the British people all turned out for the Queen Mum's funeral and it scared the shit into his pants.
I have hated Tony Blair from the first day I saw him on TV. I hate him still.

Just watched NuLab's humdrum nuremburg for the shallow, the gullible & the downright nasty.
Or what Mick Jagger once characterised as the ultimate performance: 'the one that leads to madness.'
The focusgruppenfuhrer's dream! That such demons lurk in suburbia! And, oh, the benisons for those few capable of suiting them up in the ersatz reality of televisual form! Fear & loathing made matey: in the country at large there are sufficient of the shallow, the gullible & the downright nasty, sad to say, there will ever be an avid (where would we be without the Daily Mail?) audience for such fakery. Fuck the wretched of the earth! Hence:
The Actor, permitted the opportunity & despite his crimes many & manifest, may just have beaten the Estate Agent. We shall never know. The man from Foxtons, however, shall beat the Politician.
Brown, forced to endure yet one more time the Performance, had the appearance repeatedly of a man about to vomit. And as I watched - sounds crazy, I know - was unable to repress the thought: could end up topping himself.
To those commenters who claim the speech was "masterful" all I can say is listen to it without the pictures. Without all the visual distractions you quickly realise what a poor grasp of public speaking The Beloved Leader actually has.
Admittedly Blair kept the idiotic emotional pauses to a minimum, but his delivery was still staccato and ungrammatic.
As for the rapturous reception: What do you expect from the party that sends all its event managers to the J Goebells School of Presentation and the only broadcaster allowed to cover the event draws its inspiration from Leni Riefenstahl?

It is amusing how Mr Blair's speech - a speech that would embarrass the Oscars for its faux emotion and self-centredness, made to a selected audience prompted to make "spontaneous" applause for the media's benefit - attracts so much attention and analysis.
Maanwhile, on a different stage, a real drama is occurring. According to the Times, a British Army Pathfinder patrol found its 4-day sojourn in an Afghan resort town extended to 56 days under hostile fire. Blair has famously sweated through one shirt in one speech. These guys had four pairs of socks each to last 56 days under far more trying circumstances.
While a vainglorious self-obsessed fool is preening, others are suffering unnoticed.

Well that's a lie
brown looks fucking miserable.
blair is up to about 5 or 6 jokes now. christ, what a contrast to Brownstuff.
brown tried to laugh, but his scowl got in the way... and prezza looks miserable as well.
Hillarious watching Brown nodding in agreement when Blair says he's "Gordon's a remarkable servant to the country... would not have won three terms without him etc."
Blair says Gordon Brown is "remarkable".
Well, how many ways can you read that?!
How can I ever believe anything you say again?
"remarkable brown"? Hmm methinks we could have a cult on our hands
"a remarkable servant"
Uhuh. In other words: "The guy is a great follower, not a great leader"
Lordy, he's on about collectivism now - next thing you know he'll be touting the Morning Star...
Amazing rhetorical tosh - constantly leading you in the direction of a presumed conclusion then..... shifting the argument on somewhere else. It's all buzzwords and no beef.
Err... now he's getting applause on nuclear power - how have they staged that? A labour conference applaud nukes? Huh?
I know Im not supposed to say this
but...
WHAT A FUCKING CUNT!
Im trying to watch it but have to keep turning the TV off.
CUNT!!!!!!!!
Sometimes only that word will do.
now the fucker is claiming to have solved the energy "crisis"
How exactly is Brown supposed to look happy during the speech?
When he is just doing a tv interview, he has people standing above him pulling invisible strings tied to each end of his jowly mouth, which makes him appear to smile at appropriate moments, like a marionette. Clearly, they would be too visible on the stage of a conference set.
Did I just see Minge Cambell in the front row at the conference.......ah no! it was Tony Booth (farter in law)
the nhs is being "rebuilt"
haahhahah

You strike me as a man who's a tad upset, chill baby, put on a thong, have a beer and relax, this is Blair gone but not forgotten speech.
love the comment about how Labour would not have secured three election victories without Brown -- am I overinterpreting this as an implicit challenge: ' . . . but without me, what will you be able to achieve on your own?'
"GOOGLE"generation

come on mention the Ipod
forward not back!
he's in full on soviet five year plan mode now 60,000 buildings , 40000 hospitals, 40 per cent rise, 10 per cent more, 300,000 work, blah blah fucking blah...
oh - he's switched to the internet now. "google generation".. "people wont accept a service handed down from on high" (dig at gordo?)
Gordon is looking bored now. Starting to roll his eyes a lot.
Google generation: this from a PM who famously couldn't use a computer!
Ah more guff about the net...he said all this crap in 97, little good it did him. The fucker probably still can't send email...
I noticed the bands played before he came on were (in order):

Take That
I was expecting the next one to be Jilted John ("Gordon is a mor-on, Gordon is a mor-on") But was sadly let down.
transformed schools

really?
"I don't want to put any of our essential freedoms at jeopardy, but..."
Hmm...

hitchens - calm down dear, it's only a speech.

"google generation"?
Dude, you're out of touch - we're the 'myspace generation' now.
"We can only protect liberty by making it relevent to the modern world"
Tony, dear, what the FUCK does that mean? Oh I see - it means we need ID cards. So we can park at Disneyland?
what a cockhead
more criminal justice "reforms" on the way - out goes the jury, out go appeal court powers, in come the scotsmen in long leather coats and jackboots
Who's world is he living in? I waited 15 months for an endoscopy and this prat has said the waiting lists are down.....Liar Liar Liar!
Bliar: "We need to remove your liberty to ensure you get liberty...errr"
thought we were the "Youtube" generation? Or was that last week
Hmm, but Reid hasn't been there long, that's a wetfish slap for jugears...wonder if he'll mention his old mucker flunkett?
ID cards will save us all! Just keep repeating "We are free, we are free"
The cards won't be though, they'll cost a bloody fortune!!
I'm gonna get sainted for saving Israel & Palestine from themselves (& each other)
Cunt
oh somebody just shoot him, for fuck's sake..
"surely an african life..."
vomits blood
We should be the MySpace generation for Tony, if he wants to get his plugs in to earn the support of the Digger...

I'm part of the "please go now you bunch of crooks" generation.
Bliar "I AM GOING TO SAVE THE WORLD!!! PRAISE ME!!!!!!!"...sorry got a bit carried away there! :)
"We can only protect liberty by making it relevent to the modern world"
Oh I get it - by redefining the concept to mean serfdom.
Wouldn't it be a lot better if Tony's speech was actually delivered in Guido-ese?
Ahhh, isnt that nice, his son got abused.....better than what happend to his daughter I guess....
he sorted out belfast?
there was me thinking it was just Adams and McGuiness deciding to try another tack.
Is there an opening at the UN he's after?
he's touting his children for their turn at freeloading off the rest of us. otherwise we are really taking part in the lauding of the thousand year reich.
I actually think I'm going to puke.
So, Tony, your sons went out canvassing for you. That's nice. Was Kathryn with them? No? I wonder why not?
Cherie to Nick(?) as Tony tells a story about his two sons canvassing "is that true?"
Even she doesn't believe a word he says
" now he's getting applause on nuclear power - how have they staged that? A labour conference applaud nukes? Huh? "
They clap at everything at party conferences. Yesterday a delegate went on stage and she said "I'm (insert her name that I can't recall now) from Mitcham and Morden CLP" and the audience clapped
More Methoxyflurane please Nurse.
God, how much longer is this going to go on for...
First Brown, now Blair. The only thing that rouses the demoralised troops is Cameron-bashing. They're hypnotised by their fear of him.
and praise for the odd handful of ex Ministers who were sacked without a whimper in reply.....
Can somebody please moderate out this Peter Hitchens bore? Does he really think people are interested in reading him calling TBlair rude names over and over again?
Yeah, Brown is really going to win THREE elections! HA!
oh I don't know, hitchens it isn't that bad. he speaks for a generation (of doctors).
That praise for Gordon - "remarkable" - my dictionary defines "remarkable" as:
1. Worthy of notice.
2. Attracting notice as being unusual or extraordinary
Seems a bit equivocal to me.
But Rexie, Cameron pandered to anti-Bushism, not anti-Americanism. I think there's a difference, and I think that bit of TB's speech will be picked up for that....
Well at least I didnt fall asleep, unlike the Brown speech....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I wonder what Dennis Skinner is really saying to the TV right now...
Blair truly is Thatcher - at least in the sense that his party needs him and won't hold together without him.
Or does that make him like Bill Clinton?
'Gentle Compassionate Principles' - what a fool. 'Losing' is all he hates - hence why the ends justify the means.

PS. I'm a life-long Tory!
"He should get an Oscar. "
Glenda can give him one of her Oscars. Probably she was there in the hall ready to throw one at him
Mandleson suggests there is a fissure, in the relationship betwwen Brown and Blair, Given the way Brown has been shafted, we all know its an anal fissure, looking as uncomfortable as he does!
I wonder how consciously they chose this tune to play him out.
“You’re dirty and sweet…”
!
The man is a c*nt but they will certainly miss him.
Lets face it - he *is* a great orator (although not 100% a natural - the hand gestures and quivering voice are sooo contrived) and noone else in modern british politics comes close.
Brown will lose them the next election because he just doesn't have it.
Not since Julian Clary followed behind Norman Lamont have I since a Chancellor so royally fisted !.
Bliar had the fools roaring and cheering for their own demise. Marvellous stuff.
85 comments in 1 hour - Norris, is this a record?
Guido
Absolutely right. Gordo doesn't have it, but does Little Boy Blue?
I doubt it.
Greatest Prime Minister since Macmillan.
It'll take a few years in opposition before they rechristen TB as Labour's greatest leader.
Stage managed to the end, loved the 'hand written spontaneous' posters being waved about, redefining Liberty eh! crime going down eh!not in my neck of the woods matey boy.
Blair said he couldn't have won three elections without Gordon. The camera on Brown showed him saying "Yep, Yep".
Beyond analysis; just plain weird.
Of course New Labour is insincerity incarnate but Blair is a true master of politics whereas Brown is a lumbering, bullying fool.
Getting rid of Tony and replacing him with Blair must be the craziest move ever. It's like Virgin sacking Richard Branson and bringing in Basil Fawlty.
I'm gonna wait for the leadership election and, if it's Brown, put a very serious amount of money on Cameron for PM.
What does fisted mean - and who is Julian Clary?
Blair is the master of politics. Cameron is a foppish oaf.
scary biscuits said:
Can somebody please moderate out this Peter Hitchens bore? Does he really think people are interested in reading him calling TBlair rude names over and over again?
I like to see TB being called rude names.
A barnstorming speech by anyones standards. A smooth operator!
Hung Parliament anyone...
Can't wait for the next Labour Conference....I'm guessing Labour will be at around 25% in the polls with Brown in charge!
Er, I meant Brown. Even contemplating the bloke turns me into a muppet.
I like to see TB being called rude names as well.
"Blair is the master of politics. Cameron is a foppish oaf." - This is some desperate shit from a NuLab loyalist. Cameron will wipe the floor with Brown if Labour is crazy enough to pick their weakest link as leader.
Advice to Labour - keep Blair. If he stayed who would bet against him pulling off another victory?
Wow, "Others" hate him more than Tories....what the hell???!!!
"Can't wait for the next Labour Conference....I'm guessing Labour will be at around 25% in the polls with Brown in charge! "
next conference...new leader just elected and in his honeymoon...so Labour at more than 35%
Cameron is vaccous and hollow. Brown, despite the vilification from a load of Little Englanders on here whose prinicple reason for disliking him is that he happens to be Scottish, is a political heavyweight - ten years as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
As for Little Boy Blue, where's the beef?
England won't be voting for Gordo. The "foppish oaf" wins...
Blair = winner. Brown = loser.
That reality was set in stone the evening Brown was outmanouevred at Granita. The whole country knows Brown's a has-been (or never-will-be).
John Reid is the man.
"We can only protect liberty by making it relevent to the modern world".
Just like torture....
"Cameron is vaccous and hollow."
So's Blair and he's won three in a row.
Shit is Brown and Brown is shit. Get over it, New Labour crybaby.
best of all, and this will stick in tory throats like cameron's sperm after the amount of servile felatio he'll receive next week - the Tories never beat him.
Odds are too long on Reid.
How do I place a bet?
How did the world survive before Emily arrived? Annihilation awaits us when he's gone!
Bliar for 'President of the World' forever!
Well until the mortgages are paid off!
We never beat Bliar. We'll thrash Gordo.
and this will stick in tory throats like
Not really - envy and revenge are for ingrate leftys.
"next conference...new leader just elected and in his honeymoon...so Labour at more than 35%"
Sure, but once he makes his first snooze fest speech at the conference it will be the start of his decline.
All the polls show no one likes Brown, why the hell they are so keen on him!!!

Stop trying to turn this into a race issue. I am sick to death of hearing what a great Chancellor Brown is. Is that the same Brown who sold off our gold reserves at a knock-down price?
Cherie looked like one of my Thunderbird puppets when made to applaud Gordon.
@Anonymous 4:01pm
"Little Englanders"
Err - I'm Scottish. I dislike him because he has no charisma. pure and simple.
Simply being a political heavyweight does not cut it with the electorate.
Bloody hell, at least let me POST the comments before you blow them up. I had an epic post about Blair's political style and it went POOF! The servers must be straining.
In any case, it's a true joy to watch someone as good at this really stretch out. He knows this is going to be the speech the media will mine for clips in future years, and he made the most of it. Great politician, bad governor.
Pillars perhaps we should take on someone more manageable like the Faroe Islands
they're going to miss him. i really dont know how he does it - a speech full of vacous blairisms, inane statements, half truths and downright lies.
and yet he still delivered a tour-de-force. fuck knows whats going on with the idiots in Labour who want him out. he'd win a 4th term, no doubt about it...
(and i'm a Tory by the way...)
Bring Bring-
Hi New vision design, fiona speaking how can i help.
Labour press office - Hi Fi, we need a poster that reads BEST PM EVER, we need it asap for Tones speech. One thing is though we need it to look like its homemade, like some ordinary supporter created it with a biro, in a fit of admiration. We've got a £20k budget, is this feasible?
Fi - Should just about cover it, why not just do one yourself though, it shouldnt be difficult!
LPO - No, we prefer to keep with our corporate arrangements, i mean whats £20k when you donated us £350,000 las year, must dash CHOW.
http://www.ghostofhumphrey.blogspot.com
I don't object to Brown, Reid etc as PM because they are Scottish. It is because they are elected in Scotland and make policies for England which do not impinge on their voters. sorry not witty but want to set record straight.
Robin Cook told us Blair KNEW there were no WMDs before the commons vote.Labour voters should get free copies of 'the little red book of Labour sleaze'.It's because of left wing infiltration of the media that no one believes anything a politician says.Blair will be cursed and forgotten as soon as he goes. The fact you brought us Campbell,Mandelson and the rest won't be.
"this will stick in tory throats"
Er, not really. This will all be forgotten next week. Who cares what yesterday's man said? Not Cameron, or Brown for that matter.
Don't mention the war!
Poor Brown. Sky had a BrownCam as a screen insert to watch his reactions. Not much random grinning.
Blair's speech was full of little digs, incl the one about politicians needing to be "fully paid up members of the human race"
Blair would NOT win a 4th term. The hand-picked morons in the Conference Hall might think so but they're outnumbered by millions who can't stand the sight or sound of the pancaked, pompadour coiffed warmonger. He's spent so much time out of the country during the past ten years he has no idea what sort of tin pot banana republic he's created.
I notice Cherie took her lard-arse daughter with her so she looked positively sylph-like by comparison.
Blair's speech was full of little digs, incl the one about politicians needing to be "fully paid up members of the human race"
That counts him and Cherie out then.
We've been fooled. It's been one long gag and we're the punchline. Gordon Brown is actually Steve Coogan in a Partridge-esque sketch. The Beeb's continued cutting to the sex-mad, Courtney Love shagging mad hatter proved it!
Reid will fight Brown to the death in a down-and-dirty bitch-slapping contest for the leadership but Hutton will come through to win on the inside.
"He is just too good. They're going to miss him when he's gone."
But he fucking isn't Guido, the mans crap, The stupidity and ignorance of the clown should be obvious to anybody with an IQ 70.
Can you imagine that arsehole surviving let alone thriving in that mythical place known as the real world?
This is the problem with politics, it is infested with wankers, sleaze doesn't come into it.
Watching that speech actually made me depressed, thinking that a buffoon like that has been the prime minister of this country for over 9 years, and that there are millions of arseholes allowed to vote that think he is actually doing a good job.
My business partner couldn't even bring himself to watch it, both of us must spend at least 30 minutes a day discussing how to escape this crap hole and where to go whilst paying as little tax as possible.…
I despair,Just looking at Blair or any of the other bunch of misshapen , illformed ill informed dross that laughably claim to represent us.
desperate dan
Thanks you just gave me a reality check and cheered me up
most of the people in this country know what a bunch o f w*****s they all are.
"But he fucking isn't Guido, the mans crap,"
peter , calm down. Guido was on about his oratorical skills, and his ability to wow a crowd. Adolf Hitler was able to do the same thing - doesnt mean that i think Adolf was anything else other than a cretinous wanker.

Not to be picky, but didn't Blair lose england at the last election? I thought it was only Scotland that kept the fake fuhrer in charge.
Also 10 years of being able to hide behind figures will be blown out of the water when he has to start talking like a human being.
Things are gonna get interesting
"This will all be forgotten next week."
i've forgotten already what he said. what the fuck was he on about anyway?
Blair will always be there for us.
Could anyone please tell me where exactly 'there' is so I can avoid it like the plague!
This man has made fools of us all, and I agree with the rather vulgar Peter Hitchen's comments, that I am amazed that some people still think he is wonderful.
It shows that voters should have to pass an intelligence test before being allowed to vote!
Mind you. We are all getting excited, yet he only said he was standing down as LEADER not Prime Minister. Next year they may well have a new leader of the Party but who will bet against Blair still being Prime Minister and not attending the TUC or Labour Conferences...but being invited to speak at the LIB DEMS and Conservative Conferences in his bid to bring unity to the country???? Watch this..we have certainly not seen the back of this camelion yet.

Blair is a great seducer of the moronic British public who judge him as they would a TV show. He(aided and abetted by the self loathing Campbell) has corrupted British politics and mismanaged with Brown the £200 billion in extra taxes extracted from us. Where are the fucking benefits you moronic voters. Your legacy - a dumbed down and unpleasant land. Just go you vainglorious popinjay.
Mr Hitchens - why do you watch these video nasties when you know they will upset you? I liostened to 90 secs on radio after which had to take my niacam tabs.
So farewell Lionel ! Who would have thought that 13 years after you took the decision to leave a popular charades based afternoon TV programme for the leadership of the Labour Party that you'd be here today.
Mr Forks, your report bares no resemblance to the actual event at which I am attending. Who is this Tony Blair fellow ? If you can't even get the PM's first name right how can you be trusted with anything else ? No mention of Una Stubbs, no mention the repealing of the sequin tax ?
Call yourself a political blogger !
Readers, you'd be well advised to taking your political commentary from someone properly qualified like myself rather than this half-arsed chancer.
"My business partner couldn't even bring himself to watch it, both of us must spend at least 30 minutes a day discussing how to escape this crap hole and where to go whilst paying as little tax as possible"
You too? I can't wait to get out. I think it's the "how many black bereaved disabled lesbians do you employ?" questions that you get when you try to get some tax back (bid for state contracts).
For Brutus Brown is a remarkable man...
I'm just disappointed that Inspector Yates appears to have missed his cue.
blairite party - blairites, cameroons, right-wing lib-dems
the PM doesnt have to be a leader of a party - he only needs to command the support of the majority of MPs.
and anyway, blair has his enabling act - its called the civil contingencies bill.
Pillars, In Blair's Brave New World you've got the opportunity for 24 hour drinking and you can always gamble yourself into destitution at the Dome at which point you'll become elligible for benefits beyond your wildest dreams.
"* we have been deceived re the Iraq war"
MPs voted on it. but yes, i grant you that, Blair was economical with the truth, to say the least.
"* our education system has been ruined"
Brown
"* the armed forces now couldn't take on venezuela and win"
Brown..
"* the NHS is in meltdown"
Brown - PFI schemes
"* waiting lists times are awful"
Brown
"* you'd have more chance of seeing Bin laden in woolworths than finding an NHS dentist"
Brown
"* pensions have been totally fecked up"
Brown tax grab
"* I effectively only get me bin emptied once a fortnight"
Brown
"* me rates bill has gone thru the bloddy roof"
Brown
"* we're the most spied upon nation on earth"
Brown
"* utility prices have gone up massively"
thats the market.
"* the govt doesn't even know ho wmany illegal immigrants are in the country - and yet barks on about being tough on terror"
Brown
there's not much that Blair actually *does* , besides foreign policy and winning elections. the domestic stuff is all Browns - thats what the Granita deal was about.
So well done the Brothers and sisters you have made all those "babes" and lovely diverse folk less employable.

well wasn't he the one who defended the positioning of tanks around the heathrow, when it was obvious to any london cab driver that all you had to was pull over on the hard shoulder of the m25 and dig out the rocket launcher!
Reid, no way, under him id cards would be the least of our worries, believe me
and why be anonymous just make a name up so we can keep track of you, big brother is watching you, as well as V.
Just been watching back Blair's speech. Am I imagining things bvut when Blair cracks his joke about Cherie not running off with the bloke next door and the camera cuts to Brown..
Isn't he clearly saying, through that ridiculously fake grin, "that's quite insulting"...
Gordon Brown : The long sulk to victory?
Tony's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
Hattip - Macbeth
The man is an utter cunt and I wish he would just disappear up his own arse and let's forget he ever existed.
Bliar will go dowm as the least principled PM ever, and the most corrupt since LLoyd George.
P.S And Cherie a 'bitch' to boot.
I have doubts about Tony and Cherie and the perfection of their relationship. One of their children is good looking, one is almost good looking and one is ginger. Who knows, Leo may yet grow up to look like Prezza.

i've got a bad bad feeling, in the pit of my stomach, that the end of New Labour will uncover sleaze so rampant, that it'll make John Major's government look like utter saints.

Keep giving us more of your Posts, more interesting & memorable than so many of the recent expletives-deleted posts !!
It applies to all of us :
"Gray Eagle's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage"
Your obedient servant etc
G Eagle
I shall always be with you, even unto the end of time
Deep Stoat, re. your “It will not unravel.”
Perhaps somebody will ask exactly why there are no records of the UK forces wounded in Iraq ?
shame the yanks leaked security paper blows his iraq bullshit into tiny pieces. CUNT!!!
I would have watched Little Tony's speech but I had to watch my computer's screensaver instead.
what Dispatches on C4 uncovered about secret loans and cash for peerages looked for all the world as if it was barely scratching the surface.
What has Blair actually achieved?
Attlee - bigger welfare state
Churchill - economic deregulation
Eden - Sod all
Macmillan - lots of houses built, Supermac etc
Douglas-wotsit - sod all
Harold Wilson - erm. Open University?
Heath - entered the EC
Callaghan - sod all
Thatcher - privatisation, union bashing etc
John Major - sod all
Blair - sod all
fucked that up
here
if that dont work delete me and cuss me
Verity
As a woman you know the way to judge a man is to look at ...
A, His wife
B, His shoes
C, His house
D, His car
So we are looking at some bloke who married a fat arsed harridan, buys his shoes at matalan , is stupid enough to have pissed £3.6million up the wall buying a run down flop house just off the Edgware road and is driven everywhere in the back of a police car.
Its Tony Blair.
no longer anonymous -
Blair - intentionally overran the country with unassimmilable (because they don't want to assimmilate) adherents of a hostile and primitive religion, gifted them with postal votes although they were not British citizens, and "saw them right" on the British taxpayer's payroll.
Wow - Tories are really upset that Blair gave such a great speech arn't they?
Must be the ten years of loserdon getting to them.
anonymous 2:05 AM Yes, that must be it. We failed to appreciate the power of his tenth-rate actorly oratory.
It's so bizarre, but I have always felt Tony Blair is a loser.
A declaration that the Palestinians can have their own homeland?
Has anyone tracked down this bloke who harangued the Bliarettes, then gave them a cup of tea?.
Is it the same bloke that used to have a Cortina and so encouraged Tone in the 97 election?.
I think we should be told !.
That the media should praise this second rate ham actor's farewell address is further confirmation that we are well and truly fucked. This lying vainglorious self obsessed smug Pecksniff illustrates exactly how we, the moronic reality tv generation, get the leader we deserve.
To quote Theodore Dalrymple writing after Blair's 2005 speech..
" ..represents mediocrity worshipping itself"
Well, maybe they will miss him but I'm sure as hell going to go back and have another go at the bastard.
Personally I thought Lionel player a blinder. If you'd been in the hall you'd have felt the same. Who else in the political firmanent can not only provide us with searing political insight, but also show such of fleet of footieness in a tap-shoe whilst, leading us to correctly identify " Police Academy" in the charadic arts ?
Some people are impossible to please.
Anyway Mr Forks. You cannot be Guido because you are a louche, whimsy-vicar from the Southern Counties, and lest you forget - GUIDO WAS A YORKSHIREMAN ! I know the rest of Bloody Great Britain would like to be from Yorkshire but you're not, so just accept and move on. How about renaming yourself after Southern heroes such as Brian Sewell or Chas & Dave if you fancy something more edgy ?
I'll chart your progress little fella but I don't hold out much hope for your redemption at present.
Down with this sort of thing...
Anyone watched both Blair's speech and that BBC drama about Nero a few nights ago? Oddly enough they then go backwards in time for episodes 2 and 3. Strange that. Wonder why the Beeb decided to start with the one about a vainglorious leader (played by Michael Sheen) obsessed with his place in history.
8:06am Remittance Man To ... (those) claim(ing) the speech was "masterful" .. listen to it without the pictures .. you quickly realise what a poor grasp of public speaking The Beloved Leader actually has

I didn't realize that out there in the Bundu, they still don't have TV - is this what attracts you rooineks to Zuid Afrika ?
As life there is so rewarding, couldn't you persuade our Mrs Dearly Beloved Leader to emigrate there with her husband, all the better to help advise your President Thabo on managing the Economy

PS If you are ever on Furlough in the UK, you'd better lose that unpleasant gun - we have laws against shooting Avan Wild-life
There is a staggering disconnect between what starry-eyed Blair supporters are saying and REALITY. The supporters burble on about "done great things for this country", "we owe it to him to let him decide when he steps down", blah blah, and every single one of them has forgotten about the illegality of the invasion of Iraq, the closing down of several hospitals THIS YEAR (and the rest of the dismantling of the NHS, details on the NHSBlogdoctor blog), cash for peerages, Blair's disgraceful refusal to call for a cease-fire in Lebanon (which would have both saved lives and saved Israel's face), the attacks on civil liberties, Council Tax increases overtaking pension increases, etc etc.
re that story Bliar told during his speech about his sons and the anti-labour house they called at.
Bliar said at the end of the yarn that the irate bloke went on to invite his son in for a cup of tea. I reckons that tea invite bit was added on for effect.
Verity at 2.32am
I didn't twig at first. I honestly thought Blair was a breath of fresh air. 'Cool Britannia' did it for me though. The writing was on the wall from then.
the biggest lie that finally lost him most of the electorate was after the terror attack in London, and him and his regime claiming the attack had no link to the war in Iraq.
Mr Eagle, correct spelling of goodbye in Remittanace Man's home language is 'Tot siens' (until I see you). Perhaps revert to latin as second language. With respect.
