Looks more like a pot of Tippex than a pot of glue to me.....

"since even lazy journlists..."

Can we try to reduce tautologies in our posts, Guido.

Does stealing quotes from the comments section, and publishing them verbatim as coming from sources the journalist himself has interviewed count?

this is brilliant Mr Fawkes....I wish you and your fellow bloggers the best of luck in sorting the "dead" wood.

thanks.

Will nominated plagiarists again be let off if they agree to 'contribute' to the Margaux fund, and can we nominate any of last years' nominees or winners again?

Copy from one blog, that's plagiarism. Copy from a few. That's research.

The old cod's redundant thoughts on peerage in the weekend magazine from the gruniad? What did he do, ask you to think for him?

Do these awards have anything to do with you researching said nomineees to see how many invoices you can raise against them.
If so it's a great revenue generating idea. You are to be commended.

Pandora of The Independent gets my vote. Although less flagrant of late - I think the hack originally responsible may have done the clever thing and left.

You have to feel sorry for the Indy. It's all intern's copy and the ravings of mad old men (Carr, Fisk) these days. I'm off to read The Telegraph.

I think you are indeed correct - but this should not detract from what is undoubtedly an extremely handsome trophy.

William Hague for his book on Pitt

While not exactly plagiarism of a blog per se I nominate the 'Tradesman' column from The Sportsman which has been accused of lifting sections of text from Sporting Life's bettingzone.co.uk site articles during the 2006 World Cup tournament.
An example from bettingzone reads,

"Germany's shoot-on-sight policy reached a new level against Sweden with those 29 attempts."

This was followed next day in the Sportsman by an article reading,

"Germany's shoot-on-sight policy reached a new level with an incredible 29 shots."

The Guardian wrote a small piece about this here.

Can we include politicians
Blair, Camron and the DPM all spring to mind

Mary ann seighart, who plagiarises the tedious minutaiae of her own life -- my good friend cherie (why doesn't anyone else love her?), my holiday, my bee-sting -- to make the times even more tedious than it already is.

Guido,

Your last post @ 10:55 AM Saturday
Dale's @ 2:29 PM Saturday

Loads of fun in Mail today; at least half a dozen stories one or other of you might have broken first.

Not a lot of blog 'source' for the journos to steal.

can i nominate the bbc website for nicking its webgraphics off a site, not crediting and then claiming they did it themselves until faced with legal action or does it apply to written work only?

if Richard Littlejohn doesn't win it - he has every right to write -

WE WUZ ROBBED

This looks like a unique, specially commissioned, beautiful trophy and conceptual artwork representing the until now under-recognised journalistic skills of cutting and pasting. Will it once again be awarded to the journalist nominated by blog readers to have excelled in this under-recognised area?

This year I suggest making two changes to the award - an international category to recognise the efforts of foreign journalists. Perhaps the winner of the UK award should, in addition to the trophy, also receive a specially drafted Claim for Monies Owed from the Courts.

I would suggest Guido for the award, for shamefully copying the sentiments of the Aaronovitch shower in his "Pizza for the IDF post".

:-)

Certainly not Nick Robinson, who is seen looking impressive here whilst Blair flounders.

Most of the Daily Express - less the usual Diana bits - would get my vote

Mary Ann Sieghart, ............a woman who strives to be Polly Toynbee........

You mean the hapless Guy Adams has bu--ered off? I do hope so. If they could get rid of Janet Street Porter as well I might even start reading it again.

Anonymous said...

Nope, Guy's gone to news...

How about Jeremy Bowen for blatently copying what Hezbollah put out in their press releases....and failing to do the same for the IDF ones for some reason!

Anonymous said...

Definitely got to be Stephen Dempster of Northern Ireland's daily - "Newsletter" - every single issue consists of just cut-and-pasted press releases from Ian Paisley's website...

I have apparently been nominated by some twat on Boris Johnson's blog. No idea what for, but as I have zero pride and a great hunger for fame:

VOTE FOR ME!!!

(I could use a free t-shirt...it comes with a shirt, right?)

Wait, caffeine just kicked in. It was for the Mirror taking my comment on the bojo blog out of context. D'oh.

I hate having to set the record straight, dammit. Soooo Web 1.0.

Can I nominate David Cameron for plagiarising Tony Blair as seen in the clip "Copycat Cameron"?
