They don't call it the UKIP "camper" van for nothing...

I see the caravan is painted in Cameron's New Tory Colours.

Woody,

Guido is being ironic... UKIP really did park an armoured vehicle outside the conference centre, and Farage echoed the sight of Thatcher in a tank at her Falklands moment of glory (minus the white, flowing scarf).

Cameron has handed UKIP a gift.

Cameron is showing the public exactly what UKIP is really like, a pathetic and pointless bunch of "fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists".

I thought UKIP showed a commendable sense of humour, unlike Cameron. With all due respect to the Saracen, shame though it was not a real tank.

UKIP outdo Guido in irony - God they're fawking good!

If UKIP were a holiday, it's be a caravan holiday in hell.

Well said Henry, and if UKIP were a political party (because it's doubtful whether they're anything more than a laughing stock) they'd be the BNP with a smile, oh wait they are.

And there was me thinking it was another of Guido's Photoshop efforts...

I'm pretty sure I saw that a couple of years ago at a faerie tribal rave outside San Francisco. Tell me, do they still sell glow sticks out of the back?

It gets worse - UKIP have their very own super hero - UKIPMAN

He has his own website - but he has taken it down for the local elections!

Here is a picture of him:-

I thought it was a joke but he is real - he can be found prancing about around Romford, Dagenham, Hornchurch area of London!

He has a wonderful van as well.

I am just lost for words - they really want us to take them seriously? No wonder the Conservatives want to send the message they have nothing to do with UKIP!

Yes they do, dont they!!!

I think I can be found Prancing around the whole of the country, not just the Romford Area.

You may think that I am a joke, well thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I for one have my own opinion as well and that is "THIS Country SHOULD be run by the POLITICIANS that are ELECTED by the PEOPLE of this COUNTRY not by people that sit in an UN-ELECTED forum and IMPOSE crappy laws on us.

When people like you realise it, it will be to late to do anything about it.

And the people that are out there that agree with what we are saying but do not have the guts to stand up and say anything or do anything about it, when they realize they should have done something they will be kicking themselves.

you may think that stunts are stupid, but we are fighting for the future of this country, and maybe some time in the future we may have to do this for real..

Does your vision for the future of the country include punctuation?

UKIP the party of Stupid Stunts!

And they really expect people to take them seriously!

Havn't seen Labour/LibDems or Tories getting somebody to dress up in a latex outfit wearing wellies and looking a...

True....they just stuff oranges in their mouths, eat s**t and accept loads'a'money from useful idiots....

punctuation is a cryto-fedaralist-plot to enslave the english language and take away our caravans we didnt have punctuation in the 1950s and things were so much better then when we ruled the waves and fought them on the beaches and there was less crime cos there were VALUES and pride

Hate the party but love the colour

A new directive from the European Commission will require all punctuation to be metric. You'll have to put a full stop every ten words, unless you're French in which case you can go on strike after the first three.

Seriously though, the question of whether Britain would be better off outside the EU is separate from the question of whether the UKIP can be taken seriously as a potential government, rather than a potential protest vote. I'd say "on balance, yes" to the first, and "hell no" to the second.

Also seriously, the fact that all the primary colours already have political associations actually makes it quite difficult for new parties to create a strong, simple visual identity, hence mash-ups like the UKIP purple and yellow. It may sound trivial, but colours and symbols have always had power and in the media age the visual element is more important than ever.

Less seriously, I was struck by how poor some of the imagery in the UKIP's party political broadcast during the last general election was. All those talking heads in nondescript locations were like "I couldn't believe how much I saved at the UKIP carpet warehouse!", and there was an animation showing power or money flowing between Britain and Europe that looked suspiciously - or appropriately - like an exchange of nuclear missiles.

There's no such thing as bad publicity!

The point is that everybody is talking about UKIP, a party that appeared to have been in hibernation since the last GE.

UKIP might have pulled a couple of cheap stunts, but look at the coverage they have generated.

Few people are seriously praising Cameron for his ill thought out and off the cuff comments, even if they agree with the sentiments.

Hands up all of those who think that there are no fruitcakes, loonies or closet racists in the big 3 parties! Giveme Nigel Farage over Mark Oaten any day!

What is the Conservative Party policy on the European Union, or do we have to wait until 2008 to find out ?

Anonymous said...

I'd rather wait and get good well-planned policies than rush pointlessly to get them asap.
