the people who know about these things, the political website Guido Fawkes...

Does this constitute confirmation of the widely-held belief that Guido is more than one person?

Convince me that YOU are not the market manipulator. Your ability to predict the results so accurately (and we are talking VERY accurately) has persuaded me that there may be more to this story.

I wonder if perhaps you hadn't worked out a scam with an accomplice. You rig the betting market to ensure decent odds on each choice. THEN your insider gives you the figure from the count, after which you go crazy placing medium bets from multiple accounts.

You seem to be very familiar with how the betting system works, your insider info was startlingly accurate and you were able to build up Huhne's chances through your blog and those of your friends (RecessMonkey etc.)

Convince me otherwise.

I'm sceptical, but that would explain the confident hunch for Ming at close of play...

I don't suppose Adam Boulton will read this and realise my insider information was pretty accurate pretty early?!

Guido and conspiracy go hand in hand.

Anonymous,

As usual I refer the readers to my previous comments about anonymous comment makers being idiots.

We predicted the results the day before, with a spreadsheet available to anyone who asked (and many did). (See post for reasoning.)

People didn't believe us.

As for having an insider at the count, we had Sky News on expecting Adam to give us the nod, the surreality of it was he referred to Guido calling it for Ming. Therefore our prediction became the inside information - like a mobius strip we became the news we were trading on and reduced our own profits. It was an example of a reflexive market that would form the basis of an interesting economics Phd.

Renegade Liberal,

Will stop complaining. Just found it strange.

Guido, I'm afraid I'm to blame... I had lunch with Adam a couple of weeks ago. He said he hadn't heard of your blog so I gave him yourdomain address which he dutifully wrote down. Obviously he has become a fan!

Well, at the end of the day, Boulton has paid you a huge compliment. And believe me, he doesn't do that often.

Anonymous,
Stop stirring. Guido sent me the spreadsheet with the information and is not the insider or the market manipulator.

Huhne denied being the manipulator or knowing who it was on the Daily Politics.

It is possible that a wealthy Huhne backing believer was confident - except that when the City Tipster hit him for a grand out of his ostentatious 5 grand a couple of times he ran away and pulled his bets. He did not want to trade the 5 grand, he wanted to support the Huhne price at 1.8.

When we wanted to do a large bet we showed a little at a time so as not to scare the market, we did not wade in waving our wallets for everyone to see.

Who was backing Hughes then?

No one, clearly.

G- Well done on your winnings, and your new fame. I presume you'll be declaring the cash to Mrs Fawkes- it would be a shame if you spent the rest of your life moping in a lonely bedsit in some far-off tax haven.

'They hope that over time their relationship can be restored, but, given the current circumstances, they have agreed a period of separation." '

Strikes me as a tad convenient.

question is, if they divorce will there be a full disclosure of assets? Are gifts(?) included in the negotiations?

Separation? bullshit. This reminds me of the call to Robin Cook as he was about to board a flight at London Airport with his wife. It came, as I remember, from Alastair Campbell, with advice about his choice between his wife or mistress. The wrong choice would result in the sack. Big, brave, overated Mr Cook made the pragmatic choice. Dump the wife.
Did Alastair ring Tessa, or did she figure it out for herself? Let the world know that David has behaved badly and besmirched her reputation.
Off he goes to sunnier climes until the heat dies down. Then: "We're back together again and very happy."

Right....on the one hand we have DC telling his people to prepare for a snap general election on the other hand we have Blair *actually being the Vicar, to the nation, on Parky* ! For EIGHT YEARS he avoided like the plague all reference to his religion, now he's talking about his Iraq legacy and how his faith sured him up? Jowell hasn't swung, perhaps implying that there are more important things people are worrying about.
