It is surely incumbent on us all to come to her side at this time of need.

All this could have been avoided. Blair must be getting soft in his dotage.

Of course the Italian authorities will now have to start a whole new set of extradition paperwork with the US authorities.
Then again given what I've heard about the gaols in Florida perhaps a stay in one of Jeb's hotels is wholly appropriate for a scumbag "tax avoidance" advisor.
Here's hoping he gets put in a cell with a large black man called Bubba.

I read in the Daily Mail---'so it must be true'--that Mills was once a Marxist leaning barrister.
It defies belief really and I think RM is right,at the mo,they're on the run.The Italian authorities would not go to all this trouble with nothing to put before a jury. The trip to the states may be more significant than visiting the sprog.Just as the separation makes more plausible Tessa's statements of innocence. Given that the press (and the pensions industry) ridiculed the Kevin Maxwell defence-I was the chief exec and I knew nuffink guvnor--why is she able to use it with abandon. Cue Andrew'the tongue' Marr
Personally I kind of think she's being kept in place so she can take the inevitable fall for the disaster which is the "Wembley stadium not ready" - there are news reports going back before 2003 over how her department needs to keep "on the ball".
And I'm sure we'll be heading for a similar saga over the 2012 London Olympics with facilities ready for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Actually could we have a competition for "success stories from the Department for Culture"?
Well all this drama on Oscar weekend too ... maybe hoping the glamour/shock of Oscars would keep it out the media, that and a few well placed chums I guess.
Actually to give Tessa her due, she has pulled off a brave move which is the reverse of classic politics. Typically when a scandal like this breaks you have a big photoshoot on the front lawn with your partner and your entire family, all holding hands. You say you and your marvellous partner are sticking together, the truth will out and your innocence will be proved. Then about 6 months after it's blown over you get a quickie divorce.
What this conspirator would like to know though, who will get custody of the £300,000 in the divorce?

Was there anything in poor old Tessa's Communications Act a while back (mid-2003) that might interest certain Italian meeja moguls? Like "relaxing" UK media ownership laws?
Of course we know in Blairspeak, giving someone your "full support" means "wait a few weeks for this to blow over and move them to the backbenches in a reshuffle".

Is there anything to the rumour that Mr Mills' SISTER was a former head of the SFO and also former director of Public Prosecutions?
The same SFO that at one time was investigating him? Dunno if she was in charge at the time though.

Mills is the brother-in-law of Dame Barbara Mills QC, Adjudicator for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, former Director of Public Prosecutions (1992-1998) and Director of the Serious Fraud Office (1990-1992). [4] [5]
Wouldn't the absolute irony be if Jowell steps down in the next few months, and is appointed to some panel looking into "the Mortgage Crisis".
[Her husband seems to have used to money to pay off their mortgage in 2 years like the BBC 2 program mentions - although the program I saw said nothing of accepting kickbacks from the Italian government]

I agree with WmByrd: this looks like an Aitkinson divorce (protecting your partners financial assets).

This "university" that Mills jnr, is attending in Florida is in fact a golf academy, he is "learning "golf also he apparently had "educational issues" so either he's as thick as his mother or a victim of her right on decision to fuck up his education and send him to a state school.

Just a coincidence, probably...
I'd say it was the Gambling Act that need revisiting.
Here we have it from the BBC ...
