My "other" lunchtime read is The Register, and they have now picked up on the IT angle here. The wording in that item is impressively unrestrained when you bear in mind it's an IT news site as opposed to a political blog.
What continues to confuse me, though, is the deafening silence from the Tories. Most of the opposition to this corrupt administration seems to be coming from the left.

As Capita seems destined to replace the Civil Service it would be logical for its senior managers to pick up K's for long-service, just as permanent secretaries used to get them in olden times (before Blair).

Didn't McKinsey pay William Hague's salary when he worked for Geoffrey Howe ? How many KPMG staff are on secondment to the Treasury ?
Don't property developers usually get a gong for cash ? Didn't Sir Eric Miller miss out on his on the Lavender List by killing himself ?
The Tories used to have those splendid "River Companies" and money channelled in from Hong Kong....where is McAlpine nowadays ? Didn't we retain the foreign loophole so Sinn Fein/IRA could source offshore money ?
All this indignation. Hasn't the success of Mr Lukashenko given anyone a comprehnsion of how elections are won ? The only bit I cannot fathom is where the money went.............surely not on elections ? At least with John Mitchell and CREEP we know that money was siphoned off, and the new PRO papers tell us that Mosley's lieutenants bilked around £100.000 back then ............so maybe a few houses to launder the cash...........why should David Mills be the only one to have mortgages to launder offshore funds ?

Surely the current administration is no different from a football club with the manager received gratuities for transfers and thrown matches. Why is it any different with the LibDems or Tories - they aren't exactly weighed down with morality.
Then again Blair has not surpassed l-G who did a bit of insider trading with Isaacs his Attorney-General on Marconi shares, then promoted him to Lord Chief Justice of England - while holding that position he served as British Ambassador to Washington before returning to domestic politics.
Now when Tony makes Charlie Falconer Lord Chief Justice and Ambassador to Washington simultaneously...................

The tories have been doing this for years, I seem to remember that Lord Ashcroft alegedly "loaning" the tories considerable sums and there were and continue to be many other hidden donors some of whom are likely not to be UK residents. DC was clearly very uncomfortable when interviewed on chn 4 news last night and would not reveal ( could not more likely )the names and the tory MP interviewed afterwards continually ducked the question to name the source of the loans.
The sad thing here is that this really should be an area where the labour party can underline just how the tories haven't moved on from their murky past yet all that has happened is that Blair has made the labour party look dodgy when the reality is that this was on operation divorced from the party run out of No 10 with its own aims and objectives. At least he has by his own admission a limted shelf life and this is likely to make it even shorter.
