Ah but Guido, part of the wheeze might be that the interest on these supposedly 'commercial' loans is added on to the loan rather than paid as they go along - thus we have the financial and regulatory nirvana of a cash loan at a supposedly commercial rate that never has to be repaid, ever, at least not with money. To paraphrase the old Amex ad, "Ermine Express, that'll do nicely!" :-)

Kingbongo: It's certainly going to be harder to hand out giant contracts to your mates now it's all going to be made public so future funding will have to come from the mug punters who pay for it all.
As I said in another comment:
Recently some people involved in testing drugs in a clinical trial ended up in hospital due to serious side-effects of the medicine. Within days we heard that the number of people volunteering for such trials had increased because of the publicity around the case, which highlighted that the human guinea pigs received (a mere) £2000 for their troubles.
Likewise can we expect a sudden surge in large donations to the Labour Party in the light of the current revelations?

The Tullet meeting with Levy must have been interesting, perhaps Tullet felt obliged to give after his company slighted Levy's religion so blatantly.

Having just read Derek Tullett's autobiography, it would appear that the accusations of him "buying" his honour are chronologically off the mark. He was awarded his CBE under John Majors Tory government in 1996, whereas Labour came to power in 1997.

I have read Dereks inspiring autobiography, and have also had the pleasure of working with him on numerous projects. He is one of the most honourable, charitable individuals I have ever dealt with. Having witnessed Derek and Michael S get together at numerous functions they never seemed like bitter rivals, quite the opposite.

How Funny! Have also read Derek Tuletts book. In the last chapter he paints himself as top dog a blue system. I was told that he left there before the book was published! How important was he?

Seems that Tullett is involved with another company, Betbrokers. According to Betbrokers website, updated in April 2008, Tullett is "currently Chairman of new9to5.com". New9to5.com was liquidated last year.
BetBrokers have taken about 18 months, since IPO, to lost over 90%of their market value.
By loooking at the posting on this blog, to date Tullett has been involved in a political scandal, is the Chairman of a company that no longer exists, is a Director of a company that is failing and has left the company he claimed to be so important to. Just curious, but if he cannot remember that a company he chairs is liquidated, should he really be eligible to be a Director anywhere?
If he had been given a peerage/knnighthood, he would have sat in the House of Lords, the home of legislature. We have to wonder what recommended him for this sort of responsibility? Who thought he would be up to this job?
Mr Blair of course.

I have just looked at Betbrokers. I have to ask is this the 'technically insolvent institution' that was mentioned in January on this blog?

Looks like you may be right Harding. Betbrokers went belly up last week. I hear they had some loans outstaning when they went down. Perhaps Mr Tullett was one of the creditors. If so, it seems that anonymous (Jan 30th) must have had an amzing premonition, or now something from the inside!
