What on earth do they think they are up to. Are they stupid or simply don't care? Every day they get worse.

That is beyond the pale. Especially after that minister (forget who) making a speech to a muslims where he was very snide about "You can't trust Howard on Palestine". That was borderline. This is too much.

I wouldn't have interpreted this as anti-semetic. I would surmise that most people in the country are unaware that Howard is Jewish. However, lots of people are aware that "there is something of the night about him" which is surely what this poster is illustrating?
Or are you suggesting Widdecombe's attack was anti-semetic as well?
You can't even spell anti-Semitic, so your interpretation is a little suspect.
What do you need them to do - put a Yellow Star on it?
I think it was unconscious, well I hope it was anyway..

I can spell anti-semitic and I don't quite see how this might be seen as anti-semitic. Surely it portrays him as a hypnotist rather than any species of Shylock, Jewish miser etc. As the other comment says, I didn't know he was Jewish and I don't care; I find him unpalatable on his own account, not for his religion (for the avoidance of doubt I find nothing offensive about Judaism!).

It is disgraceful for the labour Party to be producing stuff like this. It beggars belief that as we commemorate the Holocaust they are sticking this sort of stuff up. They came down on prince harry like a ton of bricks. A Labour MP said he should not go to Sandhurst. What will Labour say about this.

If they wanted to do a 'something of the night' thing they could have made him up like a vampire. Its pretty close to the knuckle. Are they actually running it?

Fraser Kemp's email was hardly a great secret - it was circulated to all party members.

Nobody in their right mind could see this or the other poster as anti-Semitic.

I guess it would depend if Kaufmann was at that moment in time the Leader of the Shadow Chancellor, and had been selected because he was relevant to the issue, or if he was still Shadow Arts Minister and therefore selected for no obvious other reason.
This is pretty much equivalent to suggesting that "Labour's Double Whammy" was implying that the Welsh are violent.
Fascinating, I think the only person who does not see either one of these posters as anti-semitic, really know nothing about Nazi propaganda against the Jews.

Lagwolf, I think clearly they mean this *or the other labour poster which has been accused of being antisemitic* not the second of the two posters on this entry...

The test as to whether it's racist is :- would this cause offence if aimed at any other religious/racial grouping. If so would NuLab alter/amend it's poster?
OK so let's suppose Howard and Letwin were Muslims? Anyone seriously going to say NuLab would still use pigs? Thought not.
Case proven Mi Lud. It's as racist as you get. Shame on Nu Labour for a shocking display of gutter ethics.

Misers don't double count money. They count money carefully. This portrays Howard not as a miser but as someone trying to trick people, like a hypnotist does. That is why he is portrayed as a hypnotist rather than a miser.
The suggestion of anti-semitism seems to have originated from The Mail on Sunday. Unfortunately their archives don't show the photos that the article was published with, but the Times describes the photos for you:
Personally, I think they got about as close to being anti-semitic as they could while just about maintaining a grip on ill-judged with their fingernails. I doubt that the fact he is Jewish went un-mentioned in that brainstorming session, otherwise how did the stereotypes end up on the poster?

Since this story was on the blog the Friday before the Mail on Sunday story how does it originate from the MoS? Doh!
